Toyota and BMW is set to co-develop a successor of the legendary Supra.

Toyota's newly appointed chairman, Takeshi Uchiyamada has unveiled his plans to develop a new sports car for the Japanese giant. Prior to that, the development of the forthcoming Toyota Supra is said to be co-developed with BMW.

External sources has indicated that the development of the next Supra has gain plenty of interest, thanks to the success of the GT86. Mr. Uchiyamada also wants the next sports coupè to bear the 'Supra' nameplate, in order to avoid overshadowing the current GT86.

Uchiyamada said “It’s futile if we make something similar [to the GT86]”, but continued, “That’s what I want but it’s not me who makes the decision”.

The Toyota Supra was introduced back in 1992. Although sales weren't really strong at that moment, the Supra is currently Toyota's last sports coupè offering, gaining plenty of fans and loyalists till today.
