Jeonbuk Motors coach Lee Heung-Sil says his side completed a "revenge mission" after winning 3-1 at Guangzhou Evergrande in Tuesday's AFC Champions League (ACL) clash having lost to the Chinese champions 5-1 earlier in the campaign.
Two goals in second-half stoppage-time from stalwart Lee Dong-Gook earned last season's beaten ACL finalists all three points and top spot in Group H after their slow start.
“We did a good job and we completed our revenge mission," Lee told reporters.
He added: “The match meant a lot to us as we lost 5-1 to Guangzhou earlier in the competition so that’s why I sent out all the Korean players on the pitch from the start.
"We are very confident about the performance of our domestic players so that’s why I sent them all on the pitch from the start."
Jeonbuk host Kashiwa Reysol in their final group game, where any result will see them earn progress to the Round of 16, while a victory would enable them to claim top spot in the group.
"We are now confident about the last game in the group,” Lee added.
Meanwhile, beaten Guangzhou boss Lee Jang-Soo apologised to the fans for the defeat but insisted there was still hope as they still sit second in the group with a clash with bottom-club Buriram to come.
"Tonight our players tried our best. Because of some small mistakes we made, we lost the match," he said.
"There are many fans （about 40,000） coming to the stadium to support us, I will present my players to say sorry to them. Anyway, as the coach of the team, I am responsible for the result.
"There is another game left, we still have the chance to control our fate. So we must play well in the final group match."
Guangzhou's star Argentine midfielder Dario Conca was substituted on the hour mark despite opening the scoring, which raised some eyebrows, but Lee explained the decision.
"We all know the condition of the player, he was ill and didn't play the away league match last weekend," he said. "We made a plan before the game, we decided to let him play 60 minutes.
"When we changed Conca, we also got some chances... Football is just like that, if we could take our chances during 1-1, it would be a different result."
