KUALA LUMPUR, 20 Jun (Bernama) -- Kementerian Pendidikan hari ini

mengarahkan pihak pentadbir sekolah mengambil langkah menutup sekolah jika

Indeks Pencemaran Udara (IPU) melebihi paras bahaya, iaitu 300 bagi menjamin

kesihatan dan keselamatan pelajar.

Ketua Pengarah Pelajaran Tan Sri Abdul Ghafar Mahmud berkata berkata pihak

pentadbir sekolah perlu mengambil tindakan di bawah Pelan Tindakan Jerebu

Kebangsaan.

Selain ditutup, pihak sekolah juga perlu menghentikan semua aktiviti

kokurikulum dan aktiviti di luar bilik darjah jika IPU melebihi 250, dan

menghentikan semua aktiviti di luar bilik darjah yang melibatkan murid-murid

berisiko tinggi jika IPU melebihi 150, katanya dalam satu kenyataan di sini.

"Kementerian Pendidikan memandang serius perkembangan fenomena jerebu yang

melanda negara ketika ini. Selaras dengan keputusan mesyuarat Jemaah Menteri

pada 15 Ogos 2012 berhubung pindaan kepada Pelan Tindakan Jerebu Kebangsaan,

kementerian telah mengeluarkan Surat Siaran KPM Bil.14 Tahun 2013 berhubung

Langkah-Langkah Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia Bagi Menjamin Kesihatan dan

Keselamatan Murid-Murid Di Sekolah-Sekolah Yang Berada Dalam Kawasan Berjerebu

Yang Dianggap Kritikal," katanya.

Abdul Ghafar berkata Jabatan Pendidikan Negeri, Pejabat Pendidikan Daerah

dan sekolah juga telah diarah untuk memantau dan mengikuti perkembangan

semasa fenomena jerebu melalui media massa dan laman web Jabatan Alam Sekitar

(JAS) untuk mengetahui status jerebu di kawasan masing-masing.

Katanya, kementerian itu juga telah membuka bilik gerakan untuk memantau

perkembangan fenomena itu, dan untuk memudahkan kementerian mengambil

langkah-langkah wajar bagi menanganinya.

"Murid-murid dinasihatkan memakai penutup hidung dan pihak sekolah hendaklah

merujuk pelajar yang dikenal pasti tidak sihat ke klinik atau hospital

berhampiran bagi memastikan kesihatan dan keselamatan pelajar terjamin,"

katanya.

Lebih 200 sekolah di Muar, Johor hari ini diarah tutup buat sementara

berikutan bacaan IPU mencatat paras bahaya iaitu 383.

Pengarah Pendidikan Johor Mohd Nor A Ghani berkata keputusan itu dibuat

berikutan paras IPU di daerah itu mencecah tahap bahaya, dan tindakan itu

melibatkan 76,940 pelajar.

JAS hari ini melaporkan Muar merupakan kawasan yang paling teruk dilanda

jerebu dengan IPU 383 pada 11 pagi meningkat daripada 337 pada 7 pagi tadi.
