MELAKA, 23 Jun (Bernama) -- Kesemua 313 buah sekolah menengah dan rendah di seluruh Melaka diarah tutup bermula esok ekoran Indeks Pencemaran Udara (IPU) di tahap bahaya.

Selain itu, institusi prasekolah termasuk Tadika Perpaduan, Kemas dan di bawah kendalian Jabatan Agama Islam Melaka serta milik swasta turut diarah tutup.

Ketua Menteri Melaka Datuk Idris Haron berkata kesemua institusi itu hanya akan dibuka semula sekiranya IPU menurun ke tahap sihat untuk aktiviti luar.

"Kita baru sahaja dimaklumkan mengenai penutupan sekolah ini oleh Kementerian Pendidikan dan semua sekolah itu akan dibuka semula apabila diberitahu kelak," katanya dalam sidang akhbar di sini hari ini.

Katanya IPU di Bandaraya Melaka pada 2 petang mencatatkan bacaan 397 manakala Bukit Rambai 456.

Idris berkata kerajaan negeri juga menyerahkan tambahan 25,000 topeng muka kepada Jabatan Pendidikan Melaka yang sebelum ini menerima jumlah sama.

Katanya setiap kawasan Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) turut menerima 1,000 topeng muka untuk kegunaan orang ramai yang terpaksa keluar rumah untuk melakukan aktiviti harian.

Idris berkata seramai 1,500 orang dilaporkan mendapat rawatan berkaitan masalah pernafasan dan sakit mata semalam.

Beliau turut meminta Jabatan Alam Sekitar (JAS) supaya melakukan teknik pembenihan awan di negeri itu bagi menyelesaikan keadaan jerebu yang semakin kritikal.

Di KUANTAN, Menteri Besar Pahang Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob mengarahkan semua sekolah di daerah ini dan kawasan yang terjejas teruk akibat jerebu ditutup bermula esok.

Beliau berkata keputusan itu dibuat selepas mengambil kira faktor kesihatan para pelajar ekoran IPU di Kuantan yang mencecah paras tidak sihat hari ini.

"Kalau kita tengok keadaan (jerebu) hari ini, memang teruk...jarak penglihatan pun makin kurang, nak bernafas pun sudah tidak selesa. Bayangkan kalau anak-anak kita ke sekolah esok, ini boleh membahayakan kesihatan mereka," katanya.

Beliau berkata demikian ketika ditemui selepas menghadiri majlis perasmian Pusat Konvensyen Antarabangsa Sultan Ahmad Shah, The Zenith Hotel dan Menara Zenith Putra Square, di sini hari ini oleh Sultan Pahang Sultan Ahmad Shah.

Menurut laman web JAS setakat 11 pagi ini IPU dua kawasan di Kuantan dilaporkan mencatat bacaan tidak sihat iaitu Balok Baharu 149 dan Indera Mahkota 107.

Sementara itu, Pemangku Pengarah Pelajaran Pahang Rosdi Ismail berkata arahan penutupan itu membabitkan 120 sekolah menengah dan rendah di daerah ini.

"Sebelum ini pun kita sudah keluarkan arahan kepada semua sekolah supaya tidak melakukan sebarang aktiviti kokurikulum," katanya.

Beliau berkata Kementerian Pendidikan juga mengingatkan semua guru besar dan pengetua mengikuti garis panduan dikeluarkan sebelum ini, bagi menangani sebarang masalah jika jerebu melanda negara.
