Penerbitan mingguan Katolik Herald akur dengan keputusan Mahkamah Rayuan melarang menggunakan kalimah Allah dalam edisi berbahasa Melayu.

Dalam keluaran terbaru Herald bertarikh 20 Oktober setiap kalimah Allah itu telah digantikan dengan 'Tuhan" pada setiap ruangan Herald yang mempunyai lima muka surat.

Bagaimanapun Herald didapati menggunakan 'kalimah Allah’ pada tajuk berita muka hadapan seperti ‘Keputusan Mahkamah – ‘Allah’ tiada kaitan dengan iman Kristian!’ serta bagi tajuk berita Larangan kata ‘Allah’ langgar

Perjanjian Malaysia 1963 namun hanya untuk menggambarkan situasi kes tersebut.

Penggunaan kalimah Allah itu pula  disusuli dalam setiap kandungan laporan berita dimana antaranya mengulangi perkataaan kalimah itu sebagai memetik keputusan Hakim, Datuk Seri Mohamed Apandi Ali.

"Datuk Seri Mohamed Apandi Ali menerangkan bahawa kerajaan tidak melanggar hak perlembagaan Gereja yang melarang penggunaan kata ‘Allah’," yang dipetik dalam terbitan Herald.

Dalam laporan berita bertajuk ‘Sarawak Ministers Fellowship kesal kebebasan beragama tidak dihormati, kamu siapa yang mahu melarang kami?’ itu turut dilihat menggunakan perkataan Allah iaitu ‘Kes mahkamah berterusan untuk melarang penggunaan kata Allah di kalangan Kristian (kata yang kita telah gunakan sebelum pembentukan Malaysia malah menjadi jaminan di dalam ‘Kebebasan beragama yang penuh kepada kita)’.

Mahkamah Rayuan pada Isnin membuat keputusan tidak membenarkan Herald menggunakan kalimah Allah dalam seksyen bahasa Melayu penerbitan itu.

Panel tiga hakim diketuai oleh Datuk Seri Mohamed Apandi Ali yang bersidang bersama Datuk Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahim dan Datuk Mohd. Zawawi Salleh memutuskan demikian secara sebulat suara selepas membenarkan rayuan kerajaan dan Menteri Dalam Negeri

Bagaimanapun isu penggunaan kalimah Allah itu menerima reaksi berbeza daripada pemimpin parti.

PAS dalam kenyataannya menegaskan bahawa penganut agama bukan Islam tidak harus disekat daripada menggunakan kalimah Allah dalam mengamalkan kepercayaan mereka bagaimanapun ia bercanggah dengan pendirian Ketua Dewan Ulama PAS yang menyeru umat menyokong keputusan Mahkamah Rayuan.

Bekas mufti Perlis, Datuk Dr Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin pula menolak pandangan mengatakan seseorang Muslim tersebut kafir kerana mempersoalkan pengharaman penggunaan kalimah Allah ke atas penganut agama lain ekoran daripada kenyataan bekas mufti Johor, Datuk Noh Gadut, yang juga penasihat Majlis Agama Islam, kerana memberi amaran kepada penganut Muslim yang mempersoalkan pengharaman kalimah Allah ke atas yang bukan Muslim.

"Walaupun kamu penyokong kuat kerajaan dan bersetuju dengan apa yang mereka lakukan, kamu tidak boleh mengeluarkan kenyataan yang memperlihatkan kebodohan kamu," katanya. – 17 Oktober, 2013.
