Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob has denied inviting Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim who was sacked from PKR, to join PAS, as reported yesterday.

Ahmad’s press secretary Mohd Asri Mat Daud said that when Ahmad (pic), who is also Dewan Ulama acting chief, was asked about Khalid's political future, he had said that it was up to the Selangor MB.

According to Asri, Ahmad had merely said, “We cannot comment on that, it is his right”, when asked about the embattled MB's future.

"The Star report on the Kelantan menteri besar titled 'PAS pelawa Abdul Khalid Keahlian PAS' (PAS invites Abdul Khalid to be member) is not accurate," Asri said in a statement today.

Yesterday, The Star reported that Ahmad had invited Khalid to join PAS.

According to the report, the Kelantan MB had said that the door to membership in PAS was open to Khalid, who was sacked from his party on Saturday over disciplinary issues.

"It is up to him if he wishes to join PAS after his sacking from PKR.

"But we need to wait for his audience with Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah and for the advice on the next move," Ahmad was reported to have said in Kota Baru.

According to Asri, Ahmad also reportedly said that the Dewan Ulama had never discussed Khalid's sacking as reported in TV3's 8pm Buletin Utama news segment last night.

"What he said was that the issue would be discussed at the PAS central working committee and that the Shura Council had discussed the issue, those reporting may have been confused between the Dewan Ulama and the Shura Council," Asri said. – August 11, 2014.
