Kelantan yet to decide on special sitting to discuss Hudud law – Bernama

The Kelantan government has yet to make any decision if it was necessary to convene a special state legislative assembly sitting to discuss the proposed implementation of Hudud law in the state.

Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob said the state government would think carefully if the government needed to call for such a meeting.

"We will see if the special sitting should be held in June or October this year when the legislative assembly convenes as scheduled," he told reporters after the launch of the book Tok Guru-Sebuah Biografi Awal in Kota Baru today.

Also present was former Menteri Besar, Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat.

Several days ago a non-governmental organisation, Institut Modenisasi Pemikiran Anak Kelantan urged the state government to convene a special state legislative assembly sitting to discuss the Hudud law implementation in depth with the people.

However, Deputy Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah said it was not necessary as the same assembly had decided to approve the Syariah Criminal Code Enactment (2) 1993 in 1993.

Prior to this, he said the Kelantan PAS government through the party's Members of Parliament would table the private bill to implement Hudud law in the state by December this year. – Bernama, April 23, 2014.
