Kidnapped fish farm manager rescued

Polis tidak sekat kebebasan bersuara, perlu ikut undang-undang

A fish farm manager, who was kidnapped by armed men in Pulau Baik, near Lahad Datu, Sabah, in May was rescued early this morning.

Utusan Malaysia quoted Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar (pic) as confirming that Yang Zai Lin had been rescued.

Reports said the 34-year-old China national is now in Sandakan and expected to be flown to Kuala Lumpur today before returning to China.

Yang, from Guangzhou, China, was kidnapped by a group of armed men on Pulau Baik on May 6.

Following the spate of kidnappings in the Semporna and Lahad Datu areas, security forces have instructed fish farm owners and managers to move to the mainland.

This comes after a failed kidnap attempt by seven armed men, suspected to be Filipinos, at a fish farm near Kampung Bangau-Bangau on Monday.
