KLIA security protocols to be reviewed, says Najib

Najib denies inviting Khalid to join Umno

The security protocols for air travellers at the country’s airports will be reviewed following the discovery that two passengers aboard missing MAS flight MH370 may have boarded the plane using stolen passports.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak (pic) said that security protocols would be enhanced following the review if it was necessary to do so.

“We will review all security protocols and we will enhance them if necessary, because we still do not know the cause of the incident,” The Star Online reported Najib as saying today.

The two people who traveled on the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 under the passports of an Italian and an Austrian citizen appear to have bought their tickets together, CNN reported today.

The tickets were bought from China Southern Airlines in Thai baht at identical prices, according to China's official e-ticket verification system Travelsky.

The ticket numbers are contiguous, which indicates the tickets were issued together. China Southern Airlines sold seven tickets for the code share flight, another media reported yesterday.

The new information adds to the mystery that has enveloped the fate of flight MH370 which disappeared over the South China Sea early Saturday on its way to Beijing.

Italy and Austria have said that none of their citizens were on board the plane. And officials say the Italian and Austrian, whose names were on the passenger manifest, both had their passports stolen in Thailand in recent years.

The two tickets booked with China Southern Airlines both start in Kuala Lumpur, flying to Beijing, and then onward to Amsterdam. The Italian passport's ticket continues to Copenhagen, the Austrian's to Frankfurt, CNN said. – March 9, 2014.
