DURIAN BURUNG, May 9 (Bernama) -- Come January next year, the Kota Putra

immigration customs quarantine security (ICQS) and the Thai ICQS complex in Ban

Prakob here will be fully operational.

While construction of the Kota Putra ICQS was completed and its soft opening

held in January, the Ban Prakob ICQS was still under construction, said Defence

Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

"We have got everything ready but on the Thai side, the construction has been

delayed by five per cent," he told reporters after the visit of the

Malaysia-Thailand General Border Committee to both the Kota Putra and Ban Prakob

ICQS here today.

The Malaysian delegation comprising 30 senior officers was led by Ahmad

Zahid, while the 20-man Thai delegation was led by his counterpart, General

Prawit Wongsuwon.

During the visit, the delegations were briefed on the development and operation

of both Kota Putra and Ban Prakob ICQS. The construction of Ban Prakob ICQS is

expected to be completed by next November.
