MEDAN, (Indonesia), 7 Jun (Bernama) -- Latihan bersama Angkatan Tentera

Malaysia (ATM) dan Tentera Nasional Indonesia (TNI) akan diadakan tiga tahun

sekali berbanding empat tahun sebelum ini, kata Panglima Angkatan Tentera Jen

Tan Sri Zulkifeli Md Zin.

Katanya kekerapan Latihan Gabungan Bersama Darat, Samudera dan Angkasa

Malaysia-Indonesia (LATGAMBA MALINDO DARSASA) itu dipersetujui kedua-dua negara

dalam usaha mempertingkatkan kawalan keselamatan serantau.

Selain mengeratkan hubungan kedua-dua negara, latihan yang lebih kerap itu

mampu membentuk keseragaman sebagai satu pasukan dan mengatasi perbezaan kaedah

yang digunakan setiap pasukan.

"Kekerapan latihan antara kedua negara ini tepat pada masanya memandangkan

kedua-dua pihak yang berkongsi sempadan perlu meningkatkan kerjasama dalam

membanteras jenayah antara sempadan antaranya keganasan atau ancaman terrorism,"

katanya pada upacara pembukaan eksesais siri ke-8 di Lapangan Lanud Suwando,

Bandara Polonia, Medan, Sumatera Utara, di sini pada Jumaat.

Turut hadir Panglima TNI Laksamana Agus Suhartono.

ZULKIFELI-LATIHAN 2 (AKHIR) MEDAN

Zulkifeli berkata eksesais bersama kali kelapan itu merupakan permulaan

untuk pelaksanaan latihan tiga tahun sekali berkenaan.

Indonesia merupakan tuan rumah eksesais kali ini yang melibatkan pasukan

khusus (Gerup Gerak Khas, Pasukan Khas Tentera Udara dan Laut) dari

ketiga-tiga cabang perkhidmatan ATM dan TNI yang bermula dari 3 hingga 12 Jun

ini.

Eksesais melibatkan 1,478 orang iaitu 290 anggota ATM dan tiga pegawai

Polis Diraja Malaysia bersama dua pasukan anjing perang, manakala bakinya

daripada TNI.

Eksesais bertema ''Pasukan Komando Tugas Gabungan Bersama Menangani

Keganasan'' bersama dengan pasukan dan agensi lain dalam melaksanakan operasi

gabungan bersama bagi menangani serangan pengganas dan impak bencana akibat

keganasan yang berlaku di kedua negara.

Eksesais yang bermula pada 1984 itu merupakan antara program

kerjasama ketenteraan dua hala kedua-dua negara.
