KUDAT, 13 Sept (Bernama) -- Latihan bersama atau eksesais antara Angkatan

Tentera Malaysia (ATM) dan Tentera Nasional Indonesia (TNI) perlu diteruskan

kerana kepentingannya dalam menjalin kerjasama erat kedua-dua negara serta

mengisi misi keamanan serantau.

Panglima 1 Divisyen Mejar Jeneral Datuk Mohd Zaki Mokhtar yakin latihan

berterusan itu mampu menepis sebarang isu berkaitan sempadan selain membentuk

keseragaman sebagai satu pasukan bagi mengatasi perbezaan kaedah yang digunakan

oleh kedua-dua pasukan.

"Isu sempadan tidak akan menjejaskan hubungan baik Malaysia-Indonesia di

mana tidak akan ada isu berpanjangan kerana kita harus sentiasa berhubung,"

katanya pada sidang akhbar selepas menyempurnakan majlis penutup latihan itu di

Kampung Tamalang, Sikuati, di sini, semalam.

Beliau amat berpuas hati dengan perjalanan latihan itu yang dianggap

berjaya dan terdapat peningkatan serta mencapai matlamat dengan baik.

Kira-kira 800 anggota tentera Malaysia dan Indonesia menyertai Eksesais

Kekar Malindo buat kali ke-36 yang bertujuan memantapkan lagi keupayaan anggota

keselamatan kedua-dua negara untuk menghadapi ancaman musuh.

Sementara itu, Panglima Daerah Militer 12 Tanjungpura (Pangdam) TNI Mayor

Jenderal Ridwan berharap latihan bersama itu dapat mengatasi segala isu

berkaitan dengan operasi di sempadan.

"Segala isu yang timbul mampu ditangani dengan kaedah yang terbaik bagi

mengelakkan permasalahan di masa depan," katanya sambil menyatakan harapan

kerjasama baik yang ditunjukkan oleh pihak tentera kedua-dua negara ini harus

dicontohi oleh masyarakat.

Eksesais itu dijangka akan diadakan di Balik Papan, Indonesia tahun depan.

Eksesais KEKAR MALINDO siri 36B/12 ini diadakan sejak awal bulan

September bermula di Kota Belud, Sabah dan antara lain yang turut serta dalam

eksais itu ialah anggota dan aset peralatan serta senjata dari unit-unit

Artileri, Rejimen Askar Wataniah, Polis Tentera, Perubatan, Semboyan dan

Perkhidmatan.
