Learner drivers can take test in auto cars from June – Bernama

The Road Transport Department (RTD) will allow learner drivers to be tested in automatic transmission vehicles starting in June.

Deputy director-general of RTD Datuk Yusoff Ayob said there had been delays in implementing the move because of technical problems involving the printing of the driving education curriculum.

"The printing of the book could not be completed on schedule," he said today.

The RTD had planned to implement the use of automatic vehicles for driving test on April 1.

Yusoff said the book, of which 600,000 copies were printed annually, contained two syllabuses, one for manual vehicle users and the other for automatic vehicle users.

"The book is expected to be distributed to driving schools in May before the driving test for automatic vehicle users can be fully implemented in June."
