A long lost sibling

Toyota unveils the latest, different incarnation of the new Corolla for the European market.

The new US-spec Toyota Corolla is seriously an opinion-dividing car. It's looks on the other hand, is rather unnatractive if you compared to this; the new, European-specced Toyota Corolla that was unveiled in Istanbul.

Sources has gathered that the European-spec Corolla will be built in both right and left hand drive. Targeting markets such as South Africa and Australia, the Asean market might just have this particular model as the replacement for the current, dated Corolla Altis.

The European-spec Corolla is basically the same car that was launch in the United States. Underneath it, the Corolla still shares the same chassis and technology as the US-specced version. Although similarities are there, the European-specced Corolla might hold a few key changes to tailor itself along with the European market.

Do expect a reworked suspension system with a range of diesel engines, which is one of the few vital necessities for the European market. On the outside, it gets an entirely new front and rear-end to diminish itself away from its sibling across the ocean.

But the real question starts here, is this the similar model that is destined to our shores? Well stay tuned as we hope this would be the successor of the current Corolla Altis. Despite knowing that the diesel engines and a few high-tech goodies ain't going to reach our shores, we'd rather stick to this particular model compared to the gawky, US-specced new Toyota Corolla.
