In Lunar New Year message, Najib pays tribute to Chinese

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak today paid tribute to the Chinese community for their famed entrepreneurial skills, saying their support is vital to Putrajaya’s transformation programmes.

"Despite the transformation advances we have made, we still have a long way to go and much work to do.

"The programmes need the support from of people of all walks of life - especially from the Chinese community who are known for their entrepreneurial skills," Najib wrote in a Chinese New Year message on his 1Malaysia blog.

Urging the Chinese to stand united with Putrajaya, Najib said the success of government initiatives such as Bantuan Rakyat 1Malaysia, Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia and Ops Harga were dependent on their support.

"We must remain resilient together in the face of economic challenges to sustain stability and progress for the future generations of Malaysians," Najib said, adding that the various programmes were to help mitigate the effects of the global inflation.

"As we welcome the Year of the Horse, we must uphold our unity and racial harmony," said Najib in his message.

He also appealed to Malaysians to reject extremism which would divide the country.

"We should listen to the voice of reason, it is expected of us to act sensibly and to listen to each other's views." - January 30, 2014.
