KUALA LUMPUR, March 19 (Bernama) -- Minister in Prime Minister''s Department

Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom had directed the Federal Territory Islamic

Religious Council (MAIWP) and the Malaysian Islamic Development Department

(Jakim) to monitor Al-Arqam internet television channel known as TVRSA.

He said monitoring the TVRSA was important to ensure deviant teachings of

Aurad Muhammadiah, practiced by the group, would be aired.

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) also actively

monitors the internet television channel and will take appropriate action if it

appears to spread deviant teachings, he said.

"All, including RTM and other television stations and Jakim will continue to

monitor this development because it not only operates in the country but also

abroad.

"If not curtailed, we fear such teachings will continue to be spread through

the internet television channel. Therefore, we want serious attention from

MAIWP, Jakim and MCMC," he told reporters after visiting the construction site

of a new Hidayatul Mustaqimah Religious Primary School (SRA) in Jinjang Utara,

here today.

On the construction of a new Hidayatul Mustaqimah SRA, he said the

completion of the building was expected in November and the school session would

start in 2013.

In April 2010, Jamil Khir announced an allocation of RM7.4 million for the

new building of Hidayatul Mustaqimah SRA, which was partly damaged on April 13,

2006.

The school building, constructed at a new site, is located about 1.5km from

the existing school site and has two blocks with 24 classrooms and can

accommodate up to 960 students.

Hidayatul Mustaqimah SRA headmaster Hapezi Abdul Hamid said the school

welcomed the construction of a new school to ensure students'' comfort due to the

increase in the number of students.

He said currently there were 533 students from standard one to six, with

an average of about 30 students in a class.
