SUBANG, 13 Mac (Bernama) -- Syarikat penerbangan komuniti, Firefly, tidak

menjangkakan sebarang impak negatif ke atas operasinya serta faktor muatan,

apabila syarikat penerbangan hibrid baharu, Malindo Airways, memulakan operasi

lewat bulan ini.

Ketua Pegawai Eksekutifnya Ignatius Ong berkata saingan bukan perkara baharu

bagi syarikat penerbangan berusia lima tahun itu, malah yakin ia akan berjaya

berdasarkan beberapa kelebihan perjalanan.

"Tahap permintaan masih tinggi untuk ditampung. Apabila Malindo Airways

menyertai industri itu, pasti ada saingan. Namun saya yakin, ada ruang untuk

semua.

"Menerusi operasi kami yang berpusat di Subang, kami mempunyai kelebihan

yang pesaing lain tidak ada," kata Ong kepada pemberita selepas Program Kerjaya

dalam Penerbangan, Firefly di sini hari ini.

Malindo Airways dijadualkan memulakan operasi pada 22 Mac, menggunakan model

perniagaan hibrid, dengan menawarkan penerbangan perkhidmatan penuh pada kadar

tambang penerbangan kos rendah (LCC).

Di peringkat awal, Malindo Airways mengumumkan tambang promosi sehala

daripada serendah RM38 ke Kuching dan RM68 ke Kota Kinabalu dari Kuala Lumpur.

Ong berkata Firefly tidak terjejas oleh promosi tambang rendah yang

ditawarkan oleh Malindo Airways itu memandangkan "syarikat penerbangan baharu

perlu mencari pelanggan."

"Malah, saya pernah lihat tambang yang lebih rendah daripada yang mereka

(Malindo) tawarkan. Akhirnya, yang penting kita tahu cara untuk mengekalkan

pelanggan, dan saya yakin Firefly berada pada kedudukan yang tepat," katanya.

Sementara itu, Ong berkata Firefly akan menjadikan Johor Baharu sebagai hab

terbaharunya, selain lapangan terbang Subang dan Pulau Pinang.

"Kami melihat permintaan besar dari Johor dan akan menjadi sangat kukuh

dalam beberapa bulan akan datang. Ia akan menjadi hab baharu kami.

"Kami akan menerima dua pesawat ATR turbo-prop baharu tahun ini, yang juga

akan digunakan untuk hab Johor Baharu," katanya.

Tahun ini, katanya Firefly tidak terlalu agresif untuk memperkenal laluan

baharu, tetapi sebaliknya memperkukuh beberapa laluan sedia ada, dan menambah

kekerapan di laluan yang diperlukan.

Beliau juga berkata Firefly mengunjurkan pertumbuhan 10 hingga 15 peratus

jumlah penumpang tahun ini berbanding 1.7 juta yang diurusnya pada 2012.

"Jika semuanya berjalan mengikut perancangan, kami akan dapat merekodkan dua

juga penumpang menjelang akhir tahun," katanya.

Sasaran dua juta penumpang itu pada awalnya dijangka direalisasikan akhir

tahun lepas, berdasarkan pelan perniagaan Malaysia Airlines, syarikat

penerbangan induk Firefly.
