Wanita itu, yang mana serangannya dalam sebuah bas menimbulkan bantahan di

seluruh India, meninggal dunia 4.45 pagi (waktu tempatan) di Hospital Mount

Elizabeth di mana beliau dimasukkan untuk rawatan pada Khamis.

"Kami sangat sedih untuk melaporkan bahawa pesakit itu meninggal dunia pada

4.45 pagi hari ini. Ahli keluarga dan para pegawai dari Suruhanjaya Tinggi India

berada di sampingnya. Pasukan doktor, jururawat dan petugas Hospital Mount

Elizabeth menyertai anggota keluarganya berkabung atas kematiannya," kata ketua

pegawai eksekutif (CEO) Hospital Mount Elizabeth Dr Kelvin Loh dalam satu

kenyataan.

Katanya pesakit itu kekal dalam keadaan kritikal sejak dimasukkan ke

hospital dan beliau mengalami kegagalan organ yang teruk berikutan kecederaan

serius di kepala dan badannya.

"Walaupun pelbagai usaha dilakukan sepasukan lapan pakar di Hospital Mount

Elizabeth untuk memastikan beliau stabil, keadaannya terus merosot sejak dua

hari lepas," katanya.

Pelajar itu dipindahkan dari Hospital Safdarjung di tengah Delhi ke

Hospital Medanta di Gurgaon, berdekatan dengan lapangan terbang bandar itu,

sebelum diterbangkan ke Singapura dan dimasukkan ke Hospital Mount Elizabeth.

Pesuruhjaya Tinggi India ke Singapura T.C.A. Raghavan dipetik oleh akhbar

tempatan, The Straits Times, sebagai berkata bahawa keluarganya mahu jenazahnya

diterbangkan ke India.

Pelajar itu diiiringi ibu bapa dan dua adik lelakinya ke Singapura.

Raghavan berkata pelbagai usaha dilakukan untuk menyelamatkan nyawa pelajar

itu, di India dan Singapura, dan sebab diterbangkan ke Singapura agar pelajar

itu mendapat rawatan perubatan terbaik.

Singapura menyampaikan ucapan takziah kepada keluarga pelajar itu.
