Preliminary investigation findings on the Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flight MH192 incident has revealed that the number three main wheel of the aircraft had burst during take off.

Acting Transport Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein (pic) said the aircraft was currently grounded at the MAS Engineering facility in Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) for further inspection and repair.

"Further investigations by the relevant authorities are still ongoing," he told reporters here today.

He said on April 20, flight MH192 was bound for Bangalore, India after departing from KLIA at 10.20pm with 166 people on board, including seven crew.

"Upon take off, the crew reported feeling heavy vibrations. At 10.22pm, flight MH2626, which was lining up for departure reported sighting tyre debris on the runway.

"Soon after, the Air Traffic Control (ATC) Centre in Subang received a report from MH192 indicating that its tyre had burst," he said.

Hishammuddin said the Boeing 737 aircraft immediately made an air turn back towards KLIA.

"At 11.32pm, the aircraft flew low over the runway as advised by the MAS Operation Control Centre (MAS OCC), and it continued to hold over until 1.20am.

"At 1.31am, the aircraft approached KLIA to make yet another low fly past the runway under the observation of MAS OCC representatives and at 1.57am, MH192 landed safely on Runway 32L," he said.

MH192 resumed its flight, on another aircraft, from KLIA at 3.35pm on April 21, and safely arrived at Bengaluru Airport in Bangalore at 5pm on the same day. – Bernama, April 23, 2014.
