MH370 passengers ‘cleared’ in four areas of probe, says top cop
The police have "cleared" all passengers of missing Malaysian Airlines flight MH370 of hijacking, sabotage and psychological and personal problems, but are still investigating the cabin crew, including the pilot and co-pilot, Bernama reported, citing Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.
Khalid said investigation of the 227 passengers of the Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flight MH370 revealed that they were "free" from the four elements.
"They have been cleared of the four (elements). It (is) according to our own procedure (investigation)," he said after opening a quality enhancing seminar for the police in Kuala Lumpur today.
Bernama reported him as saying that police, however, were still investigating the crew members, including the pilot Capt Zaharie Ahmad Shah (pic) and the co-pilot.
Khalid said so far police had recorded statements from more than 170 individuals over the disappearance of the Boeing 777-200ER (9M-MRO) aircraft, and added that they would record many more statements.
The IGP also pleaded for more time for investigators to carry out a thorough probe.
"Give us more
time. We may not even know the real cause of this incident.”
Khalid also said the probe into the missing plane was classified as a criminal investigation.
He said the investigation into the flight simulator seized from the pilot's house was still inconclusive.
The authorities were waiting for an expert's report on the simulator.
Prior to this, Khalid had hit out at those who continued to speculate on the fate of MH370 even to the point of tarnishing the reputation of the pilot.
He said the speculation not only embarrassed the pilot's family but could also jeopardise investigations into the incident. – April 2, 2014.
