(MSNT) mengambil langkah permulaan memperkenalkan sukan Muay Thai atau dikenali

Tomoi di negeri ini bermula awal tahun depan.

Pengarah MSNT Zainal Abidin Hussin berkata sukan tersebut yang popular di

Thailand akan memberi impak yang besar di Terengganu apabila diperkenalkan


"Kita sekarang sedang berusaha untuk membawa sukan-sukan baharu yang tidak

ada dalam pasaran ke negeri ini seperti Muay Thai kerana kita pasti sukan ini

memiliki tarikan tersendiri walaupun sudah ada beberapa pertubuhan kecil membawa

Muay Thai ke negeri ini," katanya kepada Bernama di sini hari ini.

Sehubungan itu untuk mencapai matlamat tersebut, MSNT akan mendapatkan

khidmat jurulatih Muay Thai yang berkaliber daripada negara Gajah Putih itu

dengan kerjasama Majlis Sukan Negara.

"Pegawai-pegawai kami (MSNT) akan dihantar ke Thailand dalam masa terdekat

ini untuk meninjau sebelum menemuduga jurulatih yang diperlukan itu," katanya.

Zainal Abidin berkata salah satu daerah yang dilihat berpotensi bagi

perkembangan sukan Muay Thai berkembang di Terengganu ialah di daerah Besut

kerana ia berdekatan dengan Kelantan di mana akan menarik kedatangan peminat

dari negeri Cik Siti Wan Kembang itu.

"Sekiranya ia dapat direalisasikan, Besut yang sebelum ini terkenal sebagai

pusat sukan tinju di Terengganu akan berkongsi dengan sukan Muay Thai," katanya.
