How much does this Range Rover cost?

$828,888. That’s how much this new Range Rover Long Wheelbase costs here, inclusive of COE. That easily makes it Singapore’s most expensive SUV, and places it alongside cars like Audi R8, Porsche 911 Turbo and Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG in the elite automotive fold.

Even before this model, the standard Range Rover already holds the record for being the costliest off-roader you can buy, with the 5.0 Vogue Supercharged V8 model costing $670,888 including COE. But if you decide that a ‘normal’ one is not enough for you, local distributor Wearnes Automotive has you covered with this, an even more luxurious and opulent Range Rover to add to your fleet.

According to a Wearnes spokesperson, the typical profile of an RR LWB customer is someone who “has already owned or is familiar with the Range Rover”, and is perhaps looking for an alternative to the standard luxury limo that is used to ferry their family about in. The Range Rover’s trump card is of course stature, with its size and height ensuring that owners have plenty of presence on the road.

Nearly 200mm of length has been added to the Range Rover to create the LWB variant, all of them from the B-pillars backwards. The result is a significant increase in rear legroom, some 186mm more than the standard Range Rover, which allows passenger even more space to stretch out in the back.

For now, the Range Rover LWB will be offered in the top-spec Autobiography trim locally. This means that the car will be packed with enough lavish features to make it a serious rival to some of the leading luxury saloons in the market when it comes to the rear-seat passenger experience.

The seats are upholstered in Semi-Aniline leather, and both front and rear passengers get ventilated seats, with massage function for those up front. In addition, customers can opt for either a standard rear bench for three-abreast seating at the rear, or the exclusive Rear Executive Class option, which comes with two individual chairs with massaging function at the back that can recline by 17 degrees backwards, 8 degrees more than the standard Range Rover.

The Range Rover LWB also boasts of a complete entertainment system at the back as standard, and the system consists of two 10.2-inch video screens mounted on the front headrests, as well as wireless remote control and headphones, which sync up to a 29-speaker 3D surround sound Meridian Signature Reference Audio System.

Like all Range Rovers, the LWB version is as capable on the road as well as off road, with a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 delivering 510bhp ensuring that this gargantuan SUV can still do the business when it comes to performance. Mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox, the Range Rover LWB can go from 0-100km/h in 5.8 seconds, which is highly impressive for a car that weighs nearly two and a half tonnes.

And a series of sensors ensures that the Range Rover LWB can cope with any challenge posed at it. The automated Park Assist system helps with the sizeable car’s parking needs in the city, while Range Rover’s Terrain Response system can be activated automatically at the turn of a switch when going off-road, to ensure that the best setup is selected for any type of conditions.

The first unit of the Range Rover Autobiography LWB in Singapore will be delivered by the end of December 2014, and Wearnes expect that the LWB will be sold in small numbers to maintain exclusivity.
