KUALA TERENGGANU, Aug 25 (Bernama) -- To many, Murtabak is a pancake-like

dish with savoury chicken and beef fillings.

However, when it is made of Maggi instant noodles, it not only raises

eyebrows, but also attracts attention and gains a larger demand compared to the

traditional murtabak.

Introduced by Wan Ahmad Rodhi Wan Muhamad, 21, the instant-noodle murtabak,

known as "Murtabak Maggi", is now selling like hot cakes at the Shahbandar

Ramadan Bazaar here.

He said although the instant-noodle murtabak was new in Terengganu, he did

not think twice to try and sell it at the bazaar after learning how to make it

from his friends.

"Luckily, the response is overwhelming and the demand for the dish is on the

rise," said the young trader, smiling.

MURTABAK-MAGGI 2 (LAST) KUALA TERENGGANU

Wan Ahmad Rodhi said the cost to prepare the dish was not very expensive as

its basic ingredients comprised only instant noodles, eggs, cabbage, carrot and

onion.

However, he said his "Murtabak Maggi" was special as it was mixed with beef

or crab meat "sambal" (chili paste) and would taste even better with chili sauce

and mayonnaise.

He said at the start of Ramadan, he could only sell 60 pieces of the

"Murtabak Maggi", but now, he could easily sell off about 200 pieces of the dish

at a price of between RM3 and RM3.50.

A customer, Mohamed Fairus Nizam Mohd Zaid, 30, said the "Murtabak Maggi"

was indeed special as the taste differed from the regular murtabak.

"It''s very tasty and different from any other murtabak because it is made of

instant noodles and crab meat," he said.
