KUALA LUMPUR, 21 Ogos (Bernama) -- Seramai 30 orang termasuk pemandu bas

disahkan terkorban dalam nahas bas ekspres yang terjunam 60 meter ke dalam gaung

di KM3.6 Jalan Genting Highlands hari ini.

Kemalangan berlaku ketika bas yang membawa 49 penumpang itu menuruni jalan

curam dari puncak Genting Highlands menuju ke ibu negara.

Penolong Ketua Pengarah Operasi Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat Malaysia Datuk

Soiman Jahid berkata mangsa yang ditemui meninggal dunia sehingga 8 malam ini

ialah 18 lelaki dan 12 wanita.

Bagaimanapun kewarganegaraan mangsa yang maut masih belum dapat dipastikan,

katanya.

Beliau berkata operasi mencari dan menyelamat akan diteruskan sehingga

kesemua mangsa ditemui.

"Kami akan menggunakan unit pengesan K9 untuk mencari mangsa yang

kemungkinan tercampak keluar dari bas bagi memastikan tiada mangsa tertinggal di

bawah gaung sana," katanya.

UPDATE1 KEMALANGAN-BAS 2 KUALA LUMPUR

Beliau berkata seramai 450 anggota bomba, polis dan Jabatan Pertahanan Awam

terlibat dalam operasi itu.

Seramai 16 lagi mangsa telah berjaya dibawa keluar daripada bas itu dan kini

menerima rawatan di beberapa hospital kerana mengalami pelbagai kecederaan dan

ada yang dilaporkan kritikal.

Hospital Selayang menerima lapan pesakit, Hospital Kuala Lumpur (lima) ,

Hospital Sungai Buloh dan Hospital Bentong masing-masing dua mangsa.

Soiman berkata punca kemalangan masih belum diketahui dan pihaknya juga

masih belum menemui saksi kejadian.

"Tapi kami merasakan keadaan fizikal jalan ini menuruni cerun. Memanglah

cerun ini agak menjunam, jadi sekiranya ia tidak dikawal dengan sempurna

menyebabkan bas tergelincir dan jatuh ke gaung. Ini penilaian awal daripada

pihak penyelamat," katanya.

Sementara itu Ketua Jabatan Kecemasan dan Trauma HKL Datuk

Seri Dr Abu Hassan Assari Abdullah pada sidang media berkata kesemua mangsa

yang dirawat di hospital itu dilaporkan stabil.

Katanya setakat ini 20 mayat telah dihantar ke HKL.

Antara warga asing yang cedera dalam nahas itu ialah dari Bangladesh dan

Thailand.
