Datuk Seri Najib Razak today said that he is aware and takes notice of criticism meted out against him, including those by former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and former finance minister Tun Daim Zainuddin.

In a special interview with Mingguan Malaysia, Najib said as a politician, he had to accept the criticism that came his way.

"I evaluate every criticism and decide if anything should be done about it, whether it involves correcting a policy or something that needs immediate action.

"I consider them as something positive," he told the weekly edition of Utusan Malaysia, an Umno mouthpiece.

When asked how far the criticism had affected him, Najib said as long as Umno members supported him and it did not create any crisis within the party, he considered them as differences of opinion over government policies and actions.

"I will continue doing what I think is best for the party and nation. Whenever there is a criticism, I will evaluate, study and seek a second opinion," he said.

Over the last few months, Dr Mahathir had been lashing out at Najib’s administration, saying that many of his criticism had fallen on deaf ears.

He said many policies, approaches and actions taken by the government under Najib have destroyed interracial ties, the economy and the country’s finances.

The country’s longest serving prime minister also said that if no one else wished to speak out against the administration, he would take it upon himself to criticise Najib, even if it meant opening himself up to abuse. – November 23, 2014.
