Next target: 280mph

Bugatti plans for a grand finale, 280mph Veyron before its successor comes in.

The tad-old, but still blisteringly fast Veyron is slated to be phased out by end of the decade. With that, the firm is planning on a final, 280mph-version behemoth as the last resort before its successor takes charge.

Rumors says it boasts 1500bhp's along with a lighter body shell. It will be the marque's fastest car ever produced if it becomes a reality, and insiders have already mentioned that the ultimate Veyron will be introduced somewhere in 2014. Currently, the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport is the fastest car that Bugatti has ever produce, hitting 267mph (431km/h) on a long straight.

Prior to that, Bugatti is confident that the Veyron is capable of hitting an even higher top speed than the Super Sport. With a few tweaks to the chassis and engine, the Veyron is no-short in targeting the most desirable top speed that the marque is aiming at.

According to the firm, the 16-cylinder, quad-turbo engine inside the Veyron is tunable to churn out an even higher output than the current figure, albeit Bugatti has to find a suitable tyre to hold the amount of resistance when the car nears in 280mph. Despite all of that, speed and exclusivity doesn't come easily. This Veyron is set to wear a £5.08 million price tag (RM24.7 million) if launched.
