Paris Hilton has been the victim of an ‘intruder’, with the suspect already having had many run-ins with the star.

The US socialite was enjoying the Independence Day weekend in Malibu, California, yesterday when according to website TMZ L.A. County Sheriff's deputies arrested James Rainford.

James had reportedly been sitting on the beach without a shirt, with witnesses apparently noticing him looking into her home and recognising him from previous news stories.

Paris reportedly watched the scene unfold from her balcony.

James was arrested after sneaking into her property in Hollywood in October last year, and he also attacked Paris’ ex-boyfriend Cy Waits outside court back in April.

According to the Sheriff's Department, James was arrested for violating a protective order which meant he should have been keeping 200 yards away from the heiress.

Paris has endured a difficult time of late. Just last month Nathan Lee Parada was sentenced to two years in a state prison after he had been found guilty of first degree attempted residential burglary of Paris’ mansion back in April. She also split from long-term boyfriend Cy last month, although reports suggest she is enjoying a new romance with director Todd Phillips.
