Paul Walker dies in car accident

1 Dec – 40-year-old actor Paul Walker who became a household Hollywood name after starring as the lead in the popular "Fast And Furious" car racing series, died in a fiery car crash that claimed his life, his publicist confirms.

Entertainment website TMZ who broke the story this morning, said that the accident which took place in Santa Clarita, California also killed one other passenger.

Reportedly, Walker took his friends to test drive his newly purchased Porsche GT, but the driver of the car had lost control, causing the half a million dollar car to smash into a tree, which then immediately burst into flames.

The driver of the car is yet to be confirmed.
The actor will be seen in his last movie, "Fast And Furious 7" directed by James Wan ("The Conjuring") starring Vin Diesel and the rest of the original cast, plus the new addition of Jason Statham.

Since production for the movie is still ongoing, it is likely that changes will now have to be made to the script due to the tragic demise of one of its leads.

The release date for "Fast And Furious 7" in Malaysia and Singapore is slated for 10 July 2014, but that too may be now subjected to change.

Update, 1 Dec 2013, 1:00pm:

A statement on the actor's Facebook page from his rep explains that the actor was actually a passenger in his friend's car, Roger Rodas, CEO of Always Evolving, a car performance and products company for which Walker has stakes in. The tragedy had occurred after the duo had made an appearance at a charity event where during or after the event, when they drove off, tragedy had struck.

"It is with a truly heavy heart that we must confirm that Paul Walker passed away today in a tragic car accident while attending a charity event for his organisation Reach Out Worldwide. He was a passenger in a friend's car, in which both lost their lives. We... are stunned and saddened beyond belief by this news."
