Aphibarnrat mempamer prestasi cemerlang apabila kekal konsisten bagi menjulang

kejuaraan pada Kejohanan Golf Maybank Terbuka Malaysia 2013 di Kuala Lumpur Golf

& Country Club, Bukit Kiara di sini hari ini.

Penganjur memutuskan untuk mengurangkan pusingan permainan daripada 72

lubang kepada 54 lewat petang semalam kerana gangguan cuaca berikutan ribut

petir yang berlaku sejak kejohanan berlangsung pada Khamis.

Kejayaan melakukan eagle di lubang ketiga (par 5) menaikkan semangat pemain

Thailand berusia 23 tahun itu bagi merangkul kejuaraan utama kedua dalam siri

jelajah Asia meskipun melakukan bogey pada lubang kedua, ketujuh, ke-12 dan

ke-18 sebelum menamatkan permainan di pusingan terakhir dengan dua pukulan di

bawah 70 bagi 13 di bawah par 203 secara keseluruhan.

Kejayaan Kiradech membolehkan beliau membawa pulang wang tunai US$458,330

(RM1.246 juta) dan Piala Seagram yang disampaikan Timbalan Perdana Menteri Tan

Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

"(Kemenangan) ini amat bermakna kepada saya kerana ia merupakan kejuaraan

kedua Jelajah Asia saya dan yang pertama dalam tempoh dua tahun.

SUKAN-GOLF 2 KUALA LUMPUR

"Saya telah bekerja keras dengan jurulatih dan ingin mengucapkan terima

kasih kepada keluarga terutama kedua ibu bapa yang sentiasa menyokong saya,"

katanya yang naik dua anak tangga untuk mendahului Jelajah Asia Order of Merit

hasil kemenangan beliau hari ini.

Di tempat kedua ialah pemain golf dari Itali Edoardo Molinari, yang turut

mempamer persembahan cemerlang pada hari terakhir kejohanan.

Pemain berusia 32 tahun itu melakar lima pukulan di bawah par 67 bagi

menamatkan permainan 12 di bawah par 204 dan membawa pulang wang tunai

US$305,550 (RM950,627).

Anders Hansen dari Denmark pula kekal di posisi ketiga pada pusingan akhir

selepas melakukan enam pukulan di bawah 66 bagi jumlah keseluruhan 11 di bawah

par 205.

Beliau membawa pulang wang tunai US$172,150 (RM535,593).

SUKAN-GOLF 3 (AKHIR) KUALA LUMPUR

Sementara itu, pemain amatur tempatan Gavin Kyle Green berharap dapat

meneruskan aksi cemerlang beliau pada kejohanan berikutnya.

Beliau dinobat sebagai pemain amatur dan pemain Malaysia terbaik pada

kejohanan itu.

Pemuda berusia 19 tahun itu mencatat tiga pukulan di bawah 69 pada hari

terakhir kejohanan dan sejumlah enam di bawah par 210 bagi berkongsi tempat

ke-22 dengan lima pemain lain.

Gavin, pelajar Universiti New Mexico yang membawa pulang US$31,075

(RM96,680) atas kejayaannya berkata beliau akan menamatkan pengajian di Amerika

Syarikat sebelum menjadi pemain golf profesional.

Sementara itu, dua lagi pemain Malaysia yang layak ke pusingan akhir ialah

Danny Chia dan S.Murthy.

Chia mencatat satu pukulan di bawah par 72 untuk jumlah keseluruhan dua hari

satu pukulan di bawah par 215 dan berkongsi tempat ke-51 bersama tiga pemain

lain manakala Murthy di kedudukan ke-65 dengan pukulan lapan di bawah par 72

bagi satu pukulan di bawah par 217 secara keseluruhan.
