Pemimpin politik Sabah membidas keterangan Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad dalam Suruhanjaya Siasatan Diraja (RCI) berhubung pendatang asing di Sabah hari ini dan menyifatkannya satu penipuan kerana bekas perdana menteri paling lama berkhidmat itu pernah membuat kenyataan sebaliknya sebelum ini.

Pengerusi Parti Reformasi Negeri Sabah (STAR) Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan berkata beliau tidak terkejut dengan kenyataan Dr Mahathir yang sering meletak kesalahan kepada pihak lain.

"Beliau tidak menafikan kad pengenalan diberikan secara haram. Beliau hanya tidak tahu tentang Projek IC yang diberikan namanya oleh pihak lain," katanya apabila dihubungi The Malaysian Insider.

Jeffrey menjelaskan kenyataan Dr Mahathir itu tidak konsisten apabila sebelum ini mantan perdana menteri itu pernah menyatakan bukan satu kesalahan memberi kad pengenalan kepada penduduk yang telah lama tinggal di negara ini.

Pengerusi PKR Sabah Datuk Seri Lajim Ukin menggesa kerajaan Barisan Nasional (BN) agar segera mencari dalang dalam Projek IC kerana hanya Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara (JPN) yang boleh mengeluarkan kad pengenalan.

“Ini satu penipuan oleh Dr Mahathir. Beliau telah berdusta. Sebelum pilihan raya umum ke-13 (PRU13), beliau telah mengakui sebanyak 200,000 pendatang asing dari Filipina dan Indonesia yang beragama Islam telah diberikan kerakyatan.

“Semasa menjawab pertanyaan daripada pemimpin Pakatan Rakyat (PR) dan beberapa NGO pada satu majlis sebelum PRU13, Dr Mahathir turut menjelaskan ada dalang di sebalik Projek IC tersebut.

“Kerajaan BN lambat bertindak dalam isu ini. Mereka seharusnya menangkap dalang projek ini lebih awal. Projek ini jelas memberi kewarganegaraan kepada warga asing yang yang belum layak menjadi warganegara,” katanya kepada The Malaysian Insider.

Beliau turut menggesa parti komponen BN Sabah seperti Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation (UPKO) dan beberapa badan bukan kerajaan (NGO) lain yang menafikan berlakunya Projek IC di negeri di bawah bayu itu agar segera membuat laporan polis.

Katanya, Projek IC telah mencetuskan pelbagai persoalan seperti nama mereka yang memperoleh kad pengenalan menerusi projek tersebut muncul dalam daftar undi beberapa PRU lepas.

“Sebelum ini, banyak nama yang telah disebut berkait dengan Projek IC. Kita harus selesaikan kes ini dengan menangkap mereka seperti bekas Menteri Kemajuan Bandar dan Wilayah Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Shamsuddin untuk menjalankan siasatan lanjut.

“Kebanjiran pendatang asing di Sabah bukan sahaja memberi kesan buruk kepada negeri itu tetapi nama baik Malaysia secara umumnya. Perniagaan di negeri Sabah kini banyak dimonopoli pendatang asing ini kerana mereka mampu menawarkan harga dengan lebih murah.” katanya.

Sementara itu, Pengerusi DAP Sabah Jimmy Wong turut mengecam Dr Mahathir kerana tidak berkata jujur dalam RCI berkenaan.

Katanya, Dr. Mahathir jelas terlibat dalam kontroversi itu sejak bekas Pengarah JPN Tamparuli Yakup Damsa mendakwa Abdul Aziz membenarkan rumahnya digunakan sebagai pusat tandatangan kad pengenalan biru untuk pendatang asing di bawah Projek IC.

“Sejak Abdul Aziz mendakwa tidak mengetahui hal ini, maka jawablah dengan tuhan nanti. Dia boleh nafi apa sahaja tetapi tidak pada tuhan,” katanya.

Katanya, tidak boleh dibayangkan terlalu ramai pendatang asing boleh mendapatkan kad pengenalan di Sabah meskipun ada warga asing yang berkahwin dengan warganegara Malaysia masih sukar mendapatkan status penduduk tetap.

Dr Mahathir semasa RCI semalam berkata tidak pernah mendengar mengenai Projek IC sehingga pendedahan baru-baru ini dan katanya tidak pernah mengeluarkan mana-mana perintah berkaitan pemberian kad pengenalan secara sembarangan kepada pendatang asing di Sabah.

Beliau menjelaskan proses pemberian kad pengenalan kepada pendatang haram sudah pun dijalankan sebelum PBS berkuasa di negeri itu dan berdasarkan perlembagaan, kewarganegaraan boleh diberikan kepada pendatang jika mereka layak dan menepati semua syarat ditetapkan.

Pemimpin paling lama menerajui kerajaan itu berkata tiada keperluan untuknya mengeluarkan arahan supaya pendatang asing diberikan kad pengenalan kerana ia dilakukan mengikut undang-undang sedia ada dan tidak memerlukan arahan kerana ia adalah proses biasa.

Ketika ditanya sama ada bekas Ketua Menteri Sabah, Tun Mustapha Harun ada meminta kebenarannya mengenai pemberian kad pengenalan kepada pendatang asing, Dr Mahathir berkata, beliau tidak ingat ada memberi sebarang arahan tertentu tetapi ada menasihati Mustapha supaya mengikut undang-undang. - 12 September, 2013.
