KUALA LUMPUR, 22 Julai (Bernama) -- Pemuda MCA mencadangkan kerajaan

menubuhkan jawatankuasa khas sama ada di peringkat kabinet ataupun Parlimen

bagi mengkaji semula sistem pengambilan pelajar ke institusi pengajian tinggi

awam (IPTA).

Ketuanya, Datuk Wee Ka Siong berkata selain menubuhkan jawatankuasa,

pihaknya juga meminta Kementerian Pendidikan mengumumkan kaedah pengambilan

pelajar ke IPTA.

Katanya, hal ini penting kerana semakin ramai pelajar lepasan Sijil Tinggi

Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM), Matrikulasi serta Diploma yang mendapat CGPA 4.0

serta markah ko-kurikulum yang cemerlang tetapi tidak ditawarkan sebarang kursus

ataupun mendapat kursus di luar daripada pilihan mereka.

"Sebagai contoh, pelajar lepasan STPM mendapat CGPA 4.0 dan markah

kokurikulum sebanyak 9.8 markah memohon kursus perubatan tetapi ditawarkan

kursus Sains Penternakan ataupun tidak mendapat sebarang tawaran dalam mana-mana

IPTA.

"Kami merasakan tawaran ini tidak munasabah memandangkan pelajar itu

bercita-cita untuk mengambil kursus yang diidam-idamkan selama ini tetapi

ditawarkan kursus yang luar daripada pilihannya ataupun tidak langsung mendapat

tempat," katanya pada sidang media di sini, hari ini.

MCA-IPTA 2 KUALA LUMPUR

Katanya, pihaknya telah membuat kajian berdasarkan maklumat yang dibekalkan

serta 361 kes rayuan mendapati bilangan pengambilan pelajar bagi kursus popular

seperti Perubatan, Pergigian serta Farmasi semakin berkurangan.

"Kalau kita lihat Perubatan, Pergigian dan juga Farmasi dalam tempoh tiga

tahun, mereka (kementerian) telah menurunkan angka dengan mendadak yang mana

dari tahun 2011 hingga tahun ini, bilangan pengambilan pelajar untuk

kursus-kursus itu telah berkurangan seramai 262 orang.

"Saya difahamkan bilangan tempat yang ditawarkan dalam kursus-kursus

tersebut sudah ditetapkan dan tidak boleh ditambah bilangannya lagi tetapi tidak

mungkin bilangan (pengambilan pelajar) itu akan berkurangan," katanya.

Wee, yang juga bekas Timbalan Menteri Pelajaran bagi tempoh Mac 2008 hingga

Mei 2013 turut mengesyorkan untuk menggunakan kaedah tahun lalu iaitu memberi

biasiswa tajaan kerajaan kepada pelajar cemerlang tetapi gagal ke IPTA untuk

melanjutkan pelajaran ke IPTS dalam bidang yang diminati mereka.

Katanya, selain itu sistem penilaian markah kokurikulum dalam kalangan

pelajar Matrikulasi dan STPM juga perlu dikaji semula memandangkan wujudnya

penilaian yang tidak adil dan memerlukan penyelarasan.

MCA-IPTA 3 (AKHIR) KUALA LUMPUR

"Ini kerana markah kokurikulum pelajar matrikulasi dinilai berdasarkan

penyertaan mereka selama setahun manakala markah pelajar STPM dinilai

berdasarkan penyertaan aktiviti kokurikulum dari Tingkatan 1 hingga Tingkatan 6

Atas, ini tidak adil kepada pelajar STPM kerana biasanya markah mereka lebih

sedikit berbanding pelajar matrikulasi " katanya.

Katanya dalam sistem permohonan terdahulu semua IPTA terletak di bawah Unit

Pusat Universiti (UPU) dan calon hanya dikehendaki mengemukakan lapan pilihan

kursus sahaja.

"Apabila kerajaan telah memberi kuasa autonomi kepada Universiti

penyelidikan serta Apex (Accelerated Programme for Excellence) seperti

Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) untuk memilih sendiri pelajar-pelajarnya, calon

menghadapi masalah yang mana mereka terpaksa mengisi borang yang berasingan

dalam satu masa.

"Ini akan menjadi satu perkara kompleks (rumit) kepada mereka dan mudah

timbul masalah ''double offer'' yang mana dalam masa yang sama mereka mendapat dua

tawaran dan tidak adil kepada mereka yang mendapat keputusan cemerlang tetapi

tidak ditawarkan sebarang tawaran," katanya.

Oleh itu, Wee berkata adalah perlu kerajaan mengambil cadangan-cadangan

yang diutarakan oleh pihaknya dalam usaha menambahbaik sistem pengambilan

pelajar IPTA.
