KUALA LUMPUR, 16 Jan (Bernama) -- Pendapatan industri pusat data dijangka

mencecah RM480 juta tahun ini daripada anggaran RM400 juta pada tahun 2012,

berikutan meningkatnya permintaan untuk industri berkenaan.

Menteri Sumber Manusia Datuk Dr S. Subramaniam berkata Malaysia menyaksikan

pertumbuhan berterusan dalam industri pusat data dengan lebih 15 penyedia

perkhidmatan menawarkan spektrum sepenuhnya perkhidmatan pusat data sejak tahun

2007.

"Mulai tahun 2008 hingga 2011, penyedia perkhidmatan pusat data ini telah

mengembangkan ruang lantai bersih mereka daripada 500,000 kaki persegi kepada

lebih satu juta kaki persegi," kata beliau dalam ucap tamanya di Persidangan

Pusat Data Malaysia Antarabangsa 2013 yang kedua di sini hari ini.

Subramaniam berkata pusat data telah dikenal pasti sebagai antara Projek

Permulaan di bawah Program Transformasi Ekonomi dan kerajaan pada masa ini,

memberikan fokus yang ketara untuk mengembangkan industri ini sebagai bidang

pertumbuhan ekonomi.

Kerajaan telah menyasarkan industri itu untuk menyumbang RM2.4 bilion kepada

pendapatan negara kasar dan mewujudkan 13,290 pekerjaan menjelang 2020, katanya.

Subramaniam berkata peserta domestik turut mengukuhkan operasi tempatan

dengan antaranya mewujudkan kehadiran serantau dan mendapatkan persijilan

antarabangsa.

Beliau juga berkata yang pasukan EPP telah bekerjasama rapat dengan para

peserta domestik untuk memanfaatkan program pertumbuhan dalam usaha meninjau

peluang-peluang dan model perniagaan baharu dengan membentuk kerjasama dan

sekutu strategik bagi mengembangkan langkauan global mereka.

Subramaniam berkata ruang merupakan bidang penting untuk dimajukan bagi

menampung industri pusat data.

"Itulah sebabnya kami membangunkan kawasan berstatus MSC di Iskandar

Malaysia memandangkan Singapura telah berkembang kepada kapasiti maksimumnya.

"Daripada berdaya saing, kita mahu lebih bersinergi dan menawarkan ruang dan

perkhidmatan untuk syarikat-syarikat Singapura berkembang di kawasan kita dan

Iskandar boleh menjadi kawasan ideal untuk mereka datang dan berlokasi di sini,"

katanya.

Sementara itu, persidangan yang diadakan hari ini dianjurkan oleh syarikat

perunding antarabangsa, BroadGroup, dengan Perbadanan Pembangunan Multimedia

Malaysia bertindak sebagai penaung.

Persidangan dua hari itu, bertujuan mengetengahkan potensi Malaysia sebagai

hab pusat data.
