KUALA LUMPUR, 3 Nov (Bernama) -- Timbalan Perdana Menteri Tan Sri Muhyiddin

Yassin berkata pendidikan merupakan instrumen paling berkesan bagi mencapai

matlamat melahirkan rakyat yang mampu menghadapi cabaran masa kini dan masa

hadapan serta pemimpin yang mampu membuat keputusan terbaik demi kesejahteraan.

Beliau berkata pendidikan hari ini perlu mampu menyediakan generasi masa

hadapan dengan kemahiran yang tinggi serta menghargai kehidupan yang aman,

harmoni dan berkualiti.

Malah dengan peningkatan pelbagai konflik di seluruh dunia pada masa kini,

pendidikan untuk pembangunan lestari bukan lagi merupakan satu pilihan, malah

ianya menjadi keutamaan, katanya semasa merasmikan sambutan Hari Pertubuhan

Pendidikan Saintifik dan Kebudayaan Bangsa-bangsa Bersatu (Unesco) Malaysia 2012

di sini hari ini

Turut hadir Menteri Penerangan Komunikasi dan Kebudayaan Datuk Seri Rais

Yatim, Menteri di Jabatan Perdana Menteri Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon, Timbalan

Menteri Pelajaran Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong dan wakil Unesco Dr Hubert J.Gijzen,

yang juga pengarah pejabat Unesco di Jakarta, Indonesia.

Muhyiddin yang juga Menteri Pelajaran berkata justeru itu, adalah menjadi

tanggungjawab bersama untuk menyediakan landasan terbaik bagi rakyat menikmati

kehidupan yang lestari di masa hadapan.

MUHYIDDIN-PENDIDIKAN 2 KUALA LUMPUR

Katanya walaupun Malaysia berada di landasan yang betul dalam mencapai

matlamat Pendidikan Untuk Semua (EFA) menjelang 2015, namun sistem pendidikan

negara perlu bergerak seiring dengan aspirasi negara serta mampu bersaing dengan

negara-negara lain yang sentiasa melakukan penambahbaikan terhadap sistem

pendidikan mereka.

"Bagi menghadapi cabaran dalam persekitaran persaingan global di abad ke-21

ini, Malaysia telah megambil langkah mengkaji semula sistem pendidikan negara

mulai Oktober 2011 dan menyediakan Laporan Awal Pelan Pembangunan Pendidikan

Negara 2013-2025, yang telah dilancarkan oleh Perdana Menteri pada 11 September

2012," katanya.

Beliau berkata penyediaan laporan itu merupakan satu usaha yang menyeluruh,

melalui pelbagai pendekataan, serta melibatkan kerjasama pelbagai lapisan rakyat

Malaysia.

"Ini termasuklah mendapatkan pandangan daripada panel penilai bebas dari

dalam dan luar negara, serta mendapatkan perkhidmatan pakar-pakar pendidikan

dari Unesco untuk membantu dalam menjalankan kajian dan semakan semula ke atas

sistem pendidikan negara," katanya.

Beliau berkata pelan itu yang menyediakan kerangka transformasi pendidikan

secara menyeluruh dijangka mampu memacu pendidikan negara ke arah pendidikan

yang berkualiti dan bertaraf antarabangsa.

MUHYIDDIN-PENDIDIKAN 3 (AKHIR) KUALA LUMPUR

Mengenai keanggotaan Malaysia dalam Unesco, Timbalan Perdana Menteri berkata

pada masa ini Malaysia menduduki kerusi Biro Pendidikan Antarabangsa (IBE),

Suruhanjaya Oseonografi Antarabangsa dan buat julung kalinya terpilih

menganggotai Jawatankuasa Warisan Dunia bagi tempoh 2012-2015.

"WHC merupakan salah satu jawatankuasa berprestij di bawah Unesco, yang

bertanggungjawab sebagai sebuah badan penilai dalam meluluskan pencalonan tapak

warisan dunia," katanya.

Beliau percaya dengan pemilihan ini, Malaysia akan menjadi peneraju terhadap

usaha-usaha pemeliharaan alam sekitar dan warisan budaya, khususnya dalam

kalangan negara serantau.

Sambutan kali kedua Hari Unesco Malaysia selama dua hari mulai hari ini di

perkarangan taman Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) turut dimeriahkan dengan

pelbagai pameran, persembahan dan pertunjukan permainan tradisional.
