KUALA LUMPUR, 16 Mei (Bernama) -- Menteri Pelajaran dan Pengajian Tinggi II

Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh menyifatkan penggabungan dua kementerian di bawah satu

nama sebagai amat baik dalam memastikan kelangsungan pendidikan anak-anak di

negara ini.

Katanya pendidikan merupakan asas kepada kesejahteraan rakyat dan penting

bagi memastikan keseimbangan antara pencapaian akademik cemerlang dan

pembentukan akhlak dalam kalangan pelajar.

"Kita mahu pastikan kelangsungan pendidikan bukan sahaja di peringkat bawah

tetapi juga di peringkat universiti. Saya akan berjumpa dengan Timbalan Perdana

Menteri untuk berbincang tugas selanjutnya," katanya kepada pemberita selepas

mengangkat sumpah jawatan dan taat setia serta sumpah simpan rahsia di Istana

Negara hari ini.

Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin merupakan Menteri Pelajaran dan Pengajian Tinggi I.

Timbalan Menteri Pelajaran dan Pengajian Tinggi I, Datuk Mary Yap pula

berkata beliau mahu memastikan Pelan Pembangunan Pendidikan Malaysia (PPPM)

2013-2025, dilaksana dengan bekesan kerana pelan itu mengandungi pelbagai

inisiatif untuk mentransformasikan sektor pendidikan agar pelajar dapat bersaing

di peringkat antarabangsa.

"Pendidikan merupakan keghairahan saya...justeru pelantikan ini yang memberi

saya peluang untuk kembali ke bidang pendidikan adalah sesuatu yang saya

tunggu," katanya.

"Ini satu cabaran yang berat tetapi saya teruja. Teruja bukan kerana

mengenai saya, tetapi kerana negara, rakyat dan perkhidmatan," kata Yap yang

dinamakan Tokoh Guru Kebangsaan pada 2012.

Timbalan Menteri Pelajaran dan Pengajian Tinggi II P. Kamalanathan pula

berkata beliau sentiasa terbuka untuk menerima pendapat dan idea daripada semua

pihak terutama golongan pendidik untuk terus memajukan bidang pendidikan.

Beliau bertekad memastikan objektif, visi dan misi yang ditetapkan Perdana

Menteri akan terlaksana, khususnya dengan penggabungan dua kementerian utama

pendidikan.

Kamalanathan juga berhasrat menjadikan 523 buah sekolah jenis kebangsaan

Tamil di seluruh negara sebagai denyut nadi masyarakat India yang berterusan.

"Tujuh buah lagi akan ditambah dan kita akan pastikan sekolah-sekolah ini

terus diberi sokongan dan bantuan penuh pada masa akan datang," katanya.
