KUALA TERENGGANU, 15 Mei (Bernama) -- Seorang penternak ikan air tawar

secara komersil di Kampung Beladau Selat di sini merancang menambah bilangan

sangkar bagi memperluaskan lagi pasaran ikan di negeri ini.

Mohd Hairi Yassin berkata, untuk mencapai matlamat itu, beliau telah membuat

permohonan pinjaman modal daripada Tabung Ekonomi Kumpulan Usaha Niaga (Tekun)

di bawah Kementerian Pertanian dan Industri Asas Tani.

"Saya baru kemukakan permohonan pinjaman kira-kira dua bulan lepas dan

berharap pinjaman ini akan diluluskan bagi membolehkan saya membesarkan

perniagaan," katanya kepada Bernama.

Mohd Hairi yang memulakan ternakan ikan dalam sangkar sejak 2000 lalu,

berkata beliau kini mengusahakan 10 sangkar di sungai Terengganu, di mana tujuh

daripadanya telah dimasukkan 2,000 benih ikan patin, baung, talapia dan keli

setiap satu manakala tiga lagi akan dimasukkan benih tidak lama lagi.

Bekas pekerja kontrak itu berkata beliau telah melabur antara RM5,000 hingga

RM6,000 untuk setiap sangkar dan ikan-ikan berkenaan dipasarkan di pasar tani

selain dijual kepada peraih.

"Saya jual ikan patih RM9 sekilogram (sekg), talapia RM12 sekg, baung RM17

sekg dan keli RM7 sekg di pasar tani dan kepada peraih," katanya, sambil

menyatakan beliau menjual lebih kurang 100 kg ikan patih, baung, talapia dan

keli dan seminggu dan berusaha menambah jumlah itu.

Beliau berkata, walau pun penternakan ikan air tawar mempunyai masa depan

yang cerah, namun ada juga masalah yang dihadapi terutamanya harga makanan ikan

sering meningkat.

"Kenaikan harga makanan ini menyebabkan keuntungan telah mengecil dan kita

harap kerajaan akan memberikan perhatian terhadap masalah ini," katanya.

Mohd Hairi berkata beliau juga merancang menyewa bangunan di Jalan Kuala

Terengganu-Kuala Berang tahun ini untuk dijadikan kedai untuk menjual ikan

selain menghantar ke kedai-kedai makan.

Beliau berkata kejayaannya itu banyak bergantung kepada bantuan daripada

agensi-agensi kerajaan seperti Jabatan Perikanan dari segi bekalan benih dan

makanan ikan dan Fama membantu memberi motosikal roda tiga untuk mengangkut ikan

ke kedai-kedai.

Mohd Hairi berkata beliau sekarang ini mempunyai stok ikan dalam sangkar

bernilai lebih RM30,000.
