KANGAR, 26 Ogos (Bernama) -- Perlis yakin mampu menjadi tuan rumah Sukan

Malaysia (Sukma) 2014 dengan sempurna meskipun ada pihak ragu-ragu dengan

persediaan infrastruktur sukan dan penginapan di negeri ini.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Md Isa Sabu berkata, Perlis akan memastikan

temasya sukan itu berjalan lancar dan ia antara cabaran yang bakal dihadapi.

Berucap pada majlis penyampaian insentif Sukma ke-15 kepada para atlet

Perlis di sini malam tadi, beliau berkata, selain memastikan penganjuran yang

terbaik, Perlis juga perlu menyediakan pasukan yang mantap menjelang 2014.

"Para atlet perlu menggunakan kelebihan beraksi di gelanggang sendiri untuk

memungut sebanyak mungkin pingat," katanya.

Beliau berkata, mulai akhir tahun ini sehingga menjelang Sukma, Perlis perlu

disemarakkan dengan kegiatan sukan yang menjurus kepada persiapan menghadapi




Mengenai kebimbangan pelbagai pihak terhadap penginapan untuk 10,000 atlet,

pegawai dan penyokong Sukma, Md Isa berkata, Perlis mampu menyediakan kemudahan

penginapan itu.

"Tak perlu para atlet menginap di negeri lain dengan alasan Perlis tak cukup

bilik penginapan," katanya.

Katanya, sebagai tuan rumah Sukma, Perlis perlu memastikan penginapan atlet

hanya di Perlis begitu juga dengan venue bagi acara-acara sukan yang


Pengerusi Jawatankuasa Belia dan Sukan Perlis, Abdul Jamil Saad berkata,

RM160 juta diperuntukkan bagi menjayakan Sukma 2014 termasuk penyediaan

infrastruktur sukan.

"Ada yang melihat peruntukan itu terlalu besar sedangkan banyak lagi kos

yang perlu dilihat di dalam penganjuran itu," katanya.

Pada majlis itu, para atlet dan jurulatih Sukma yang menyumbang pingat pada

Sukma di Pahang baru-baru ini menerima insentif kewangan berjumlah RM56,000.

Pada Sukma itu, Perlis mengutip empat pingat emas, lima perak dan 12 gangsa.

Turut hadir di majlis itu ialah Setiausaha Kerajaan Negeri Perlis, Datuk

Azizan Hamid.
