    Eating out can be really expensive. I love shopping at grocery stores because it's cheaper and it's a great everyday ritual that let's you experience the normal life, rather than just the life of a tourist. Checking out foreign super markets and their food packaging is an experience in itself.

Instead, pack your favorite camera. I've always found photos to be my favorite souvenirs. Afterwards, you can get a little book made of your trip. Leave it on your coffee table as a conversation starter! I always enjoy taking along film cameras too.
