PKR endorses Azmin Ali as Selangor MB
PKR has endorsed Azmin Ali's appointment as Selangor menteri besar, bringing an end to the eight-month-old issue to replace Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.
This was confirmed by Azmin after a meeting with top PKR leaders at the party headquarters in Petaling Jaya this evening.
"The party unanimously agreed to my appointment as the new Selangor menteri besar," said Azmin.
Azmin said he did not know why party president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail's candidacy was rejected by the Selangor palace.
"No reason was given."
Azmin is expected to be sworn in as the 15th Selangor menteri besar at 10am tomorrow in Istana Alam Shah, Klang.
PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said tonight she accepted the decision of the Sultan of Selangor, who has opted for Azmin to take over as the next Selangor menteri besar.
Dr Wan Azizah, who was PKR's initial choice to replace Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, congratulated and thanked the 29 assemblymen who had supported her and enabled Pakatan Rakyat to remain as the state government. – September 22, 2014.
