KAMPAR, 16 Jan (Bernama) -- Polis tidak menolak kemungkinan memanggil

Pengerusi DAP Perak Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham memberi keterangan berhubung kenyataan

dalam laman twitternya mengenai kemalangan membabitkan kenderaan Jabatan

Pengangkutan Jalan (JPJ) Seri Manjung di Sitiawan Jumaat lalu.

Ketua Polis Perak Datuk Mohd Shukri Dahlan berkata kemungkinan itu ada bagi

membantu dan menambah baik siasatan polis.

"Mungkin ada pihak lain akan dipanggil dan bukan Datuk Ngeh sahaja, katanya

ketika ditemui pemberita selepas program Kepolisan Berprofil Tinggi di

Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman di sini, hari ini.

Pada 11 Jan lepas, Ngeh yang juga anggota Dewan Undangan Negeri Sitiawan

didakwa mengeluarkan kenyataan menerusi laman Twitternya iaitu: "jpj purportedly

cross divider to get a lorry causing the big pile up. People ask, if jpj does nt

(not) follow the law why shd (should) we?"

[(kenderaan) JPJ sengaja melintasi pembahagi jalan untuk menahan sebuah lori

menyebabkan kemalangan besar. Rakyat bertanya, jika JPJ tidak mematuhi

undang-undang, mengapa kita patut (patuhi undang-undang)]

Mohd Shukri juga berkata polis masih merakam keterangan empat suspek yang

ditahan sebelum dan selepas kejadian itu dan masih mengenal pasti beberapa lagi

suspek melalui rakaman video termasuk yang dimuatnaik dalam Youtube berhubung

kemalangan itu.

POLIS-JPJ 2 (AKHIR) KAMPAR

Beliau berkata tiga saksi bebas telah tampil bagi membantu siasatan polis.

"Kita akan mengenal pasti suspek seorang demi seorang dan kemungkinan kita

akan menahan lebih ramai suspek. Ada rakaman video dibuat mereka yang tidak

dikenali termasuk yang kita lihat di Youtube. Teknologi membantu kita dan perlu

lakukan sesuatu mengenainya," katanya.

Mengenai dakwaan keempat-empat suspek itu adalah ''tonto'', beliau berkata

latar belakang kesemua suspek belum diperincikan lagi namun mereka disyaki

terlibat dalam perbuatan membakar kenderaan JPJ terbabit semasa kejadian itu.

Beliau berkata orang ramai tidak sepatutnya menuduh kononnya polis cuba

menyembunyikan fakta kejadian sebenar kerana semasa kejadian, pihaknya turut

mendengar laporan daripada orang ramai yang menjadi saksi kejadian.

"Polis tidak memanipulasi atau melindungi apa-apa fakta. Apabila kita

lakukan siasatan yang lebih teliti, kemungkinan cerita yang mula-mula itu akan

berbeza selepas ada saksi dan orang yang datang memberi keterangan maka siasatan

kita akan lebih tepat lagi," katanya.

Dalam kejadian itu, kenderaan pacuan empat roda JPJ Seri Manjung diterbalik

dan dibakar orang ramai di Km 12 Jalan Sitiawan-Ipoh di lampu isyarat

berhampiran Sekolah Menengah Methodist, Ayer Tawar.

Kemalangan itu turut melibatkan sebuah lori sawit, sebuah lori pasir, dua

bas sekolah, tiga kereta sedan, sebuah jip dan sebuah motosikal mengakibatkan

empat cedera parah dan 11 cedera ringan.
