Preserve Malaysia’s unity, says Muhyiddin

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (pic) today reminded Malaysians to preserve the nation’s unity.

He said the people should take pride in that the unification of the states of the peninsula with Sabah and Sarawak had created a unique, harmonious and fast-developing Malaysia.

"Every development and excellence that we now enjoy must be continued in the spirit of 1Malaysia. "Only harmony and tolerance can serve as the backbone and pillar to maintain Malaysia as a strong, credible and respected nation," he said in a statement in conjunction with the 51st anniversary of Malaysia Day today.

The people must also remain united to face elements which were out to undermine the nation’s unity, which was over the last 51 years, Bernama reported him as saying.

"I strongly believe that our journey to develop Malaysia demands the participation of all Malaysians." – September 16, 2014.
