KUALA LUMPUR, 16 Jan (Bernama) -- "Saya akan pertahankan warisan bahasa

Melayu dan tulisan jawi yang amat saya cintai ini hingga ke hembusan nafas saya

yang terakhir," demikian tekad Prof Dr Kang Kyoung Seok, seorang profesor

berbangsa Korea.

Itulah antara kata-kata terakhir beliau setelah menamatkan tugas sebagai

Profesor Tamu di Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), Tanjung Malim, pada

3 Jan lepas dan akan pulang ke negaranya malam ini bagi meneruskan tugas sebagai

Ketua Pengajian Malaysia di Busan University of Foreign Studies, Korea Selatan.

"Saya mahu pulang ke Korea Selatan kerana di sana sekarang bahasa dan

budaya Malaysia semakin kurang dikenali berbanding tahun 80an dan 90an dulu,

terutama di kalangan pelajar kami yang sedang belajar dan mengkaji budaya dan

bahasa Melayu.

"Pelajar mahu belajar dan kaji ini semua, tetapi kebanyakan mereka menyangka

bahasa dan budaya Indonesia itu sama dengan Melayu, jadi mereka hanya belajar

bahasa Indonesia. Ini perlu diperbetul, pelajar mesti belajar bahasa Melayu dan

tulisan jawi jika mahu mendalami Malaysia," katanya.

Kang berkata demikian dalam temu bual eksklusif dengan Bernama setelah

menerima Anugerah Pakar Penyelidik Tulisan Jawi daripada Dewan Bahasa dan

Pustaka (DBP) disampaikan Ketua Pengarahnya Dr Awang Sariyan di sini, hari ini.

JAWI-KOREA 2 KUALA LUMPUR

Pada Januari tahun lepas, Kang yang bertugas di UPSI sejak 2010, melahirkan

kebimbangan bahawa tulisan jawi semakin dilupakan terutama dalam kalangan

generasi muda di Malaysia.

Mengulas perkara itu, beliau berkata tindakan masyarakat Melayu yang

meletakkan tulisan jawi eksklusif kepada perkara berunsur Islam perlu dihindari

bagi memastikan tulisan itu sesuatu yang lebih universal.

"Tulisan ini perlu digunakan untuk berbagai perkara, antaranya sebagai satu

daripada teks utama universiti yang membolehkan generasi baharu Malaysia

mempelajarinya lebih mendalam," katanya.

Ditanya apa yang perlu dilakukan bagi mempopularkan kembali tulisan jawi di

kalangan generasi muda Malaysia, Kang berkata inisiatif luar biasa seperti

dilakukan penyanyi Korea Selatan, PSY yang mempopularkan budaya Korea melalui

lagu ''Gangnam Style'' boleh dilakukan.

"Gangnam Style ini memang sesuatu yang luar biasa kerana mengambil kuda,

iaitu sesuatu yang dilihat biasa di Korea dan jadikan sesuatu di luar kebiasaan.

Di Malaysia juga ada kuda, saya percaya kita boleh lakukan sesuatu yang serupa,"

katanya.

JAWI-KOREA 3 KUALA LUMPUR

Bercerita tentang kajian terbaharunya, Kang berkata beliau sedang

mengusahakan teori ''Jawiology'', sebuah teori yang mampu memperkenalkan tulisan

jawi itu kepada masyarakat dunia.

"Melalui teori ini saya mahu menerangkan tentang perkembangan tulisan jawi

daripada sebuah tulisan dalam Al-Quran disesuaikan menjadi tulisan yang

melambangkan Melayu itu sendiri. Teori saya juga memastikan tulisan jawi mudah

difahami dan dipelajari masyarakat bukan Melayu seluruh dunia," katanya.

Bercakap mengenai kajian tulisan jawi yang amat dekat dihatinya, Kang

memberikan contoh kajian batu bersurat di Terengganu yang dilakukannya sejak

pertengahan tahun 80an.

"Saya masih mengkaji tulisan pada batu bersurat itu. Sukar memastikan apa

yang dimaksudkan kerana tulisan itu ada sedikit kerosakan seperti hilang titik

yang membezakan huruf seperti ''ba'' dan ''nun''.

"Setakat ini tiada tafsiran yang benar-benar tepat, hanya agak-agak sahaja.

Saya sendiri mahu lakukan kajian lebih dalam lagi," katanya.

JAWI-KOREA 4 (AKHIR) KUALA LUMPUR

Mengakhiri temu bual, Kang melahirkan azamnya untuk menjadi jambatan

penghubung di antara masyarakat Korea dengan Malaysia terutama bagi generasi

muda melalui perkongsian bahasa dan budaya.

"Saya mahu kita menjadi rakan karib. Orang muda Malaysia amat minat dengan

budaya K-Pop Korea jadi saya juga mahu orang muda Korea minat bahasa dan budaya

Malaysia," katanya.

Sementara itu, Awang berkata DBP akan meneruskan kerjasama dengan Kang bagi

mengkaji lebih 200 manuskrip Melayu lama yang kini berada dalam simpanan dewan

itu.

"Walaupun Kang kini jauh, kita akan tetap bekerjasama dengan beliau. Melalui

beliau juga kita akan bertindak sebagai penghubung melakukan pelbagai program

bersama dengan Busan University of Foreign Studies bagi memperkenal bahasa dan

budaya Malaysia di Korea Selatan," katanya.
