MAKKAH, 14 April (Bernama) -- Projek pembesaran Masjidil Haram yang sedang

dilaksanakan secara besar-besaran tidak akan meningkatkan kos menunaikan ibadah

haji, kata Datuk bandar Makkah Dr Osama Fadhel Al-Bar.

Beliau berkata projek mega itu, yang dilancarkan Penjaga Dua Masjid Suci

Raja Abdullah pada Nov 2011, semata-mata bertujuan untuk memastikan jemaah dapat

menunaikan ibadah haji dengan lebih selesa, selamat dan mudah.

Katanya projek itu adalah sebahagian daripada usaha yang dilakukan kerajaan

Arab Saudi sebagai hadiah kepada umat Islam dari seluruh dunia, selain projek

pembangunan kemudahan Jamrat, perkhidmatan tren antara Mina, Muzdalifah dan

Arafah dan pembangunan Lapangan Terbang Antarabangsa Raja Abdulaziz di Jeddah.

"Jemaah tidak akan dikenakan cukai berikutan pelaksanaan projek pembesaran

ini. Kos yang dikenakan terhadap jemaah hanyalah bagi perkhidmatan yang

disediakan organisasi yang diamanahkan kerajaan masing-masing untuk mengurus

keperluan mereka dengan kerjasama Kementerian Haji Arab Saudi," kata Dr Osama

kepada sekumpulan wartawan Malaysia yang mengunjungi pejabatnya di sini pada

Sabtu.

Projek bernilai SR80 bilion itu dianggap projek pembesaran terbesar dalam

sejarah Masjidil Haram, dijangka meningkatkan kemampuannya untuk menampung

keperluan jemaaah tiga kali ganda daripada yang ada sekarang apabila disiapkan

kelak.

MAKKAH-DATUK BANDAR 2 MAKKAH

Projek selama enam tahun itu dibahagi kepada tiga fasa, dengan setiap tahun,

kerja pembinaan hanya dapat dilaksanakan selama lapan bulan kerana dalam empat

bulan lagi, kerja terpaksa ditangguhkan sempena musim haji.

Sebelum ini, beberapa media tempatan melaporkan bahawa keseluruhan keluasan

Masjidil Haram adalah 356,000 meter persegi dan mampu menampung keperluan lebih

kurang 770,000 jemaaah, manakala projek pembesaran yang meliputi kawasan seluas

456,000 meter persegi ini akan dapat menampung keperluan 1.2 juta jemaah haji

apabila siap sepenuhnya kelak.

Dr Osama berkata di samping pembinaan di dalam kawasan Masjidil Haram untuk

memenuhi keperluan kira-kira 1.6 juta jemaah, projek pembesaran ini juga akan

melibatkan pembangunan kawasan luar masjid itu seperti dewan rehat, terowong dan

kemudahan lain untuk memudahkan pergerakan jemaah.

Mengulas peranan Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH), beliau berkata syarikat

berkaitan kerajaan itu menjadi contoh terbaik tentang bagaimana sebuah lembaga

urusan tabung haji sepatutnya beroperasi.

Kata Dr Osama, dalam ucapannya pada satu simposium antarabangsa tentang

usaha mendidik jemaah haji ketika beliau menyandang jawatan Dekan Penyelidikan

Penjaga Kemudahan Dua Masjid Suci, beliau menyebut TH sebagai antara contoh

organisasi terbaik yang patut dijadikan contoh oleh negara dari seluruh dunia

dalam mengurus keperluan jemaah haji.

MAKKAH-DATUK BANDAR 3 (AKHIR) MAKKAH

Dr Osama berkata ketika mengunjungi Malaysia pada 1996, beliau kagum dengan

usaha yang dilaksanakan untuk mendidik bakal jemaah seperti kursus mengerjakan

tawaf yang menggunakan replika Kaabah, kelas bimbingan cara memakai ihram dan

sebagainya.

Rabu lepas, Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif TH Datuk Ismee Ismail dilaporkan berkata

kos yang dikenakan TH terhadap rakyat Malaysia yang mengerjakan ibadah haji

tahun kini dikekalkan pada RM9,980 seorang, walaupun kos sebenarnya meningkat.
