KUALA LUMPUR, 10 Mei — Melihat pada perkembangan politik semasa, bekas mufti Perlis Prof Madya Dr Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin menggesa pengundi agar tidak memberi “kemenangan besar” — majoriti selesa kepada mana-mana parti politik, tidak kira BN atau pun Pakatan Rakyat demi kepentingan rakyat.

Buat julung kali selepas 1969, negara menyaksikan BN kehilangan majoriti dua pertiga di Parlimen dan tambahan empat negeri pada pilihan raya umum 2008.

Dalam ulasan terbarunya, Asri (gambar) berkata, dalam negara seperti Malaysia, kemenangan besar mana-mana parti politik akan merangsang kerakusan kuasa dan sikap tidak peduli dengan perasaan rakyat.

“Kenaikan harga barang sekarang sebagai tanda kerajaan mula merasa selesa dengan sokongan rakyat.

“Jika mereka terus selesa, barang akan terus naik. Maka dalam negara kita ada beberapa perkara yang perlu kita berikan perhatian,” kata beliau dalam pandangannya kepada The Malaysian Insider semalam di sebalik beberapa isu semasa termasuk dakwaan bahawa ada konspirasi untuk menjadikan negara ini sebagai negara Kristian dan perdana menterinya pula mahu dilantik daripada kalangan orang Kristian.

Dalam ulasannya, beliau tidak merujuk kepada kenaikan harga barang keperluan gula sebanyak 20 sen sekilogram berkuat kuasa hari ini. Harga petrol R0N97 telah mengalami kenaikan 20 sen seliter minggu lalu, perkembangan di bawah langkah rasionalisasi subsidi.

Asri yang cuba ditarik oleh parti-parti politik sejak beberapa tahun lalu menambah, kemenangan mana-mana parti politik dengan majoriti selesa akan menyebabkan mereka kurang prihatin terhadap rakyat.

“Perayaan atas kemenangan pilihan raya biasa akan dijadikan tiket untuk ‘menjoli’ harta rakyat. Hal ini telah kita saksikan sebelum pilihan raya umum ke-12,” tambah beliau.

Oleh itu kata beliau, rakyat hendaklah bijak untuk membuat keadaan yang seimbang dalam keputusan pilihan raya umum ke-13, yang disebut-sebut akan diadakan dalam waktu terdekat.

Pilihan raya umum ke-13 disebut-sebut akan diadakan sebelum Ramadan atau awal Oktober, dan jika tidak awal tahun depan.

“Tujuannya, agar semua pihak sama ada BN atau PR sentiasa prihatin dan menghormati suara rakyat,” kata Asri lagi.

Selain itu kata beliau, rakyat juga perlu memberi perhatian ke atas keperluan pihak ‘third-force’ yang bebas daripaa ketaksuban mana-mana parti berperanan mendidik rakyat agar sentiasa sedar dengan kemampuan suara dan hak mereka agar mereka tidak menjadi mangsa mana-mana parti politik.

Asri yang turut mengulas isu laporan yang mendakwa ada pengikut Kristian cuba menjadikan agama itu agama rasmi negara, tokoh agama ini berkata, rakyat negara ini tidak seharusnya terlibat dalam permusuhan atas sebab-sebab yang bukan kerana faktor realiti. Oleh itu kata Asri, beliau yakin isu terbaru ini sengaja dibangkitkan oleh pihak tertentu untuk mengalih isu atau perkembangan semasa.

“Kita jangan biarkan orang luar berpandangan bahawa umat Islam dan bukan Islam di Malaysia bergaduh dan bermusuhan hanya kerana sebab yang belum ada kebenaran, isu yang bukan bersandarkan realiti,” katanya merujuk kepada laporan Utusan Malaysia Sabtu lalu di bawah tajuk “Kristian agama rasmi?”
