Remains of Karpal’s aide to be flown back to India

The remains of Karpal Singh’s personal aide Michael Cornelius, who died in Thursday's accident along with the Bukit Gelugor MP, will be flown back to India today, according to media reports.

Prayers would be held for Michael, 39, at the Ipoh Hospital mortuary before his remains are transferred to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, The Star reported, quoting Puchong MP Gobind Singh’s personal assistant R. Suresh Singh.

Michael’s remains will then be flown to Tamil Nadu, India.

Michael, a trained nurse, had worked for Karpal since the veteran lawyer's accident in 2005 that left him paralysed and wheelchair bound.

According to media reports, Michael hailed from Vellore, Tamil Nadu in southern India and leaves behind a wife and two children.

Meanwhile, Karpal’s driver C. Selvam, 27, had given his statement to police and undergone medical checks, Suresh reportedly said. – April 19, 2014.
