Perusahaan Getah (Risda) menjenama semula Kelab Generasi Muda Pekebun Kecil

(KGMR) kepada Generasi Muda Pekebun Kecil (GEMPek) bagi menarik lebih ramai

penyertaan golongan muda menceburi industri getah negara.

Pengerusinya, Tan Sri Dr Rahim Tamby Chik berkata GEMPek akan berperanan

sebagai satu rangkaian pekebun muda berkemahiran yang maju dan berdaya saing

serta berpendapatan tinggi.

Beliau berkata GEMPek yang berkonsep rakan sebaya positif akan memimpin

golongan muda, khususnya generasi kedua pekebun kecil, ke arah menceburi

industri getah yang turut menawarkan pelbagai sektor hiliran.

"Jumlah golongan muda yang telah mencapai 11.9 juta orang, iaitu 41.5

peratus daripada jumlah keseluruhan penduduk negara ini, memiliki kapasiti besar

dalam menggerakkan pembangunan negara, termasuk dalam industri getah," katanya

kepada pemberita selepas Perhimpunan GEMPek di Lendu hari ini.

Katanya, rata-rata pekebun kecil di Malaysia kini berumur lebih 60 tahun

dan memerlukan pelapis untuk mengusahakan kebun mereka.

Sehubungan itu, Rahim berkata Risda memperuntukkan RM260,000 bagi melicinkan

aktiviti GEMPek di 13 negeri seluruh negara.

Katanya, kelab itu mempunyai 9,948 anggota termasuk 734 orang di Melaka.
