'Sacked' Pietersen insists 'not out to make a point' during IPL-7

London, Apr 16 (ANI): Sacked England batsman Kevin Pietersen has insisted that he is not out to 'make a point' when he plays in the seventh season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), beginning on Wednesday at the UAE. England's only player in the IPL and the captain of the Delhi Daredevils, which paid 880,000 pounds to re-sign him in the auction, was told he was no longer part of the national team's plans after the Ashes whitewash. According to the BBC, Pietersen said that he never plays cricket to make any point, adding that he loves cricket and just wants to go out on the field and play the game. The Surrey batsman, who is England's all-time leading run-scorer across all formats, will now be available for a full IPL season for the first time following the end of his international career ands was the third most expensive player in this year's IPL auction behind Yuvraj Singh. The IPL-7, which features eight teams, runs from 16 April to 1 June, with the opening matches to be held in the United Arab Emirates to avoid a clash with India's general elections, the report added.
