Samsung planning 'Premiere 2013' launch event

Samsung will reveal a host of new mobile devices in London on June 20.

Samsung is being coy about the exact details -- the press invite contains nothing other than three extreme close-up images of non-descript devices -- but it has confirmed that the new gadgets that will be making their world debut at Earls Court 2 will be part of its expanding Galaxy and ATIV ranges.

Therefore, the smart money says that the event, which starts at 7pm BST and will be streamed live on the company’s YouTube channel, will showcase the Galaxy SIV Mini (a smaller, less powerful version of the Galaxy SIV), the GIV Active (a waterproof version of said phone) and possibly even the Galaxy Note III, the replacement for Samsung’s current flagship phablet.

For the uninitiated, the ATIV portfolio is Samsung’s line of Windows Phone 8 handsets, none of which have achieved the sort of attention or sales of its Galaxy Android phones. Therefore, expect to see a true premium handset that can compete with Nokia’s Lumia 925, currently by far the best phone -- in terms of specifications, style, looks and quality -- running Microsoft’s smartphone operating system.
