New Center Provides Financial and Accounting Services to Schlumberger Businesses

in Asia/Pacific, Middle East, and Europe/Africa Regions

KUALA LUMPUR, 16 November 2010 – Schlumberger today announced the inauguration

of a new Financial Hub in Kuala Lumpur. The opening ceremony , which took place

in the presence of Yang Berhormat Senator Dato Sri Idris Jala, Minister in the

Prime Minister’s Office and CEO of Performance Management and Delivery Unit

(PEMANDU), was attended by Schlumberger customers, senior executives from MDeC,

as well as a number of Schlumberger staff. The new center, which is the first of

its kind, offers high-quality financial services in support of daily operations

and represents a major transformation in how Schlumberger provides financial

support to its operating business managers.

“Malaysia was the obvious choice for this new facility”, said Simon Ayat, chief

financial officer, Schlumberger Limited. “The country offers highly qualified

financial professionals with excellent customer service attitudes. Malaysia is

open to attracting knowledge-based activities, offers an excellent business

environment with the government committed to the development of education as

well as to the country’s infrastructure.”

Currently housing almost 200 employees from 19 different nationalities, the

Financial Hub will grow to more than 400 people over the next year and will

offer staff opportunities to expand their industry knowledge and gain broad

international understanding. The center’s diversity in nationality and culture

will enable employees to expand their careers as they fill roles in which they

interact directly with operations management based in more than 60 countries in

the eastern hemisphere. To ensure success, dedicated human resources and staff

training managers have already been assigned to the new Hub. At the opening

ceremony Yang Berhormat Senator Dato Sri Idris Jala said that “The Schlumberger

Financial Hub is a part of the Entry Point Project to attract 100 multinational

companies to set up their global or regional headquarters in Greater Kuala

Lumpur/Klang Valley under the Economic Transformation Programme”.
