PUTRAJAYA, Nov 21 (Bernama) -- All 12 Immigration Department branches in
Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya with the highest number of passport
applications will operate daily, including Saturday and Sunday, throughout the
school holidays, Home Ministry secretary-general Tan Sri Mahmood Adam said
He said that with the exception of public holidays, the offices will be open
from 7.30 am to 5.30 pm from Monday to Friday and 8 am to 1 pm on weekends.
Mahmood said applications can be made at any of the branches in Shah Alam,
Subang, Port Klang, Kajang, Sungai Pelik, Kuala Selangor (two branches), Puchong
and Kuala Kubu Baru in Selangor, Precinct 15 branch in Putrajaya as well as the
Jalan Duta and Wangsa Maju branches in Kuala Lumpur.
The public is advised not to focus on main branches to avoid congestion and
long waiting periods, said Mahmood.
"The Immigration Department always takes steps to cater to the high number
of passport applications during the year-end school holidays," he said.
In November and December last year, 131,582 applications were handled by the
Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya offices, whereby Selangor recorded the
highest number with 69,301 applications followed by Kuala Lumpur (49,232) and
