MACHANG, July 2 (Bernama) -- The people of Kelantan will get a brand new

stadium if Barisan Nasional wins back the state from PAS in the coming general

election.

This was the promise that Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak made to the Kelantan

people who have long wanted a new stadium to replace the old Sultan Muhammad IV

Stadium.

The Prime Minister said the promise would be part of the BN''s manifesto for

Kelantan.

"In the ICT era, the Kelantan stadium still have a scoreboard which requires

people to climb up and change the score manually. This is what happens when we

put not very capable people in positions meant for others a lot more able.

"But if tonight it is announced that BN has come to power in Kelantan, I

will build a beautiful stadium with the latest score board system tomorrow,"

Najib said to loud applause from some 15,000 people.

NAJIB-STADIUM 2 (LAST) MACHANG

At the gathering, which was also attended by several state football players,

he said that it was up to the Kelantan people to decide whether they wanted a

new stadium.

Najib commended the Kelantan football team which he said had risen to

prominence after it was not given much attention by people in the sport and the

state association was facing financial problems.

As in sports, good leadership would result in good performance in politics,

.he said.

"In my observation, the most important thing is political leadership, where

we need capable people at the helm for the country to advance," he

said.

Najib presented a cheque for RM2 million to the Football Association of

Kelantan and opened the ALHamra Red Warrior Academy for training footballers

aged 16 years old and below.
